This is kind of hard to explain and you may have to read this twice to get my drift.

So here it goes,

Halo 2 has a ranking system to ensure (or trys to ensure that) everyone plays with gamers of the same skill level.

We all know you can link your Gamertag to this site. (so you can check your stats and your level within each playlist.) And now Bungie is thinking about a Karma system for the forums.

XBox live has implemented a new system called your gamer profile, that shows your repreputation, Gamerscore and Zone. This all is geared towards creating a better gaming experience.

The question. (Finally)

Is any or all of this categoizing stuff going to be linked together, eventually? What purpose would it serve?

Something to think about.....Hummmm

Well, if i rember correctly, linking your gamer tag to your .Net passport will allow you do quickly transfer over your xbox live account. But I assume there is another way to do so, without a .Net passport.

Theres one other thing that really annoys me. I cannot start an Xbox.com account, it won't even allow me due to my age. And I frankly don't understand why. I have my .Net passport hooked up to everything i need it for.But why can't i start an account on XBox.com? If your under 18 you can't even make one. To me its quite annoying.

The most obvious reason why this wouldn't work is that not everyone has a Live account, and Bungie doesn't want to force people to have a Live account and a linked gamertag in order to use the forums.

The less obvious response comes from the fact that the Halo 2 stats are a Halo 2 function. A gamer profile is monitored by Xbox Live and has nothing to do with developers.

So, when Bungie.Net gets its karma system, I would imagine it will be a standalone system, not connected to the Live service.

Thanks Shishka,
I figured as much but wanted to see if there was any tie-in in any way.... a mouth full. ha.. Not that I was asking for it or wanted it. Just curious. The parallels and implementations were too similar. Thanks for answering. dave
