What are you looking at the trees for?

Heh, just kidding. Anyways...do you mean as in your computer lags visibly, or as in the tree seems to be shaky or something? Because if it seems to be shaking, then it's actually a glitch in Halo's geometry and bumpmap engines, which you can do nothing about.

If your computer is visibly lagging, though, I recommend checking to see if you have the latest drivers, and that you close any unecessary programs while playing HPC, etc etc.

Yeah its visibly lagging and I do have the latest drivers too

Also this is really weird, this is the only game were I can't set the resolution high but it plays perfectly in 640x480 resolution but anything higher plays horribly but I cant do it in other games like Doom 3 and such

Trees have a lot of geometry and texture. The most you could do is turn down your texture settings if they're not at low already.

Do you have forced anti-aliasing and anisotropic-filtering on? That can lower performance too. Turn those off if they aren't already.
