Subject: ME universe vs. Halo universe: why ME would win

Hold your ground, hold your ground! Sons of Gondor, of Rohan, my brothers! I see in your eyes the same fear that would take the heart of me. A day may come when the courage of men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship, but it is not this day. An hour of woes and shattered shields, when the age of men comes crashing down! But it is not this day! This day we fight! By all that you hold dear on this good Earth, I bid you stand, Men of the West!

I've seen a thread like this before, and i figure that i should display my opinion on who would win.

Many say that Halo would beat Mass Effect due to Halo's Covenant cruisers, great warriors, and of course Halo, but I disagree. Considering that Halo is including the Covenant (the bad guys) then Mass Effect should include the Reapers. And the Reapers would demolish everything.

Covenant cruisers?

A reaper is twice the size of one, and there are thousands of super-powerful reapers.

Warriors?

It wouldn't help against gigantic space stations that can annhilate everything.

And lastly, what about Halo?

You may think that Halo has the ability to destroy Reapers, but you'd be mistaken. Reapers are composed of half organic and half inorganic materials. Therefore, it's neither alive nor dead. Halo wipes out all life in the galaxy. Therefore, Halo wouldn't work against the Reapers, rendering it only effective on the living creatures in Mass Effect.

Bottom line: Mass Effect's Reapers > anything Halo has.

Even the greatest were once at the bottom.

Mister Chief would wreck an army of reapers.

You barely brought up any supporting facts for your reasons, but it is your opinion.

Ships sizes don't really matter, however, A Reaper is a 2 kilometers long, where as a normal CCS cruiser or even a UNSC Halcyon class cruiser is a little longer than a kilometer. The size isn't much of a difference between them.

The Covenant Assault Carrier is almost 5 times the size of a Reaper, and a Supercarrier is 14 times its length.

Also, Covenant shields are Superior to Kinetic barriers, as they utilize Cold plasma. UNSC MAC rounds would also pierce Kinetic barriers with relative ease. SMAC's would likely rip a Reaper in pieces with one shell.

In terms of backstory, their both great games, which can't be compared on much.

In my opinion, Nova Bomb > Everything in Mass effect ( Although, we have yet to see Mass Effect 3. )

I am alpha, i am omega.

I am the last of the primes.

Super mac, nova, super carrier, forerunner ships, your mom, mc and arby

all of those things would own most ME things

  • 12.12.2010 12:28 PM PDT

Reapers are 2km long.
Isn't a CCS-battlecruiser around 1.5?

Also, the Reapers are apparently weak to megaton [constant firing of kiloton weapons=reaching the level of megaton pretty fast] detonations, though the shields of a Reaper probably couldn't tank gigaton level firepower...which is readily available in a MAC.

Also, the Forerunners. 'nuff said.

true, you all make good points. This is simply my opinion, although you are probably right.

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

What about the armies of the Forerunners? They had MILLIONS of vessels in their Navy.

And let's not even talk about Precursors.

Halo would win.

  • 12.12.2010 2:52 PM PDT

Reapers are only two kilometers long; The Standard CCS-Class Battlecruiser (The most common one, btw) is 1.8 km.

Reaper shielding only protects against knetic-based attacks (Fast moving projectiles). They do not deflect plasma weaponry. Besides, Covenant Shielding for the larger ships (Around 1.5+ km long) requires megatons to bring down, and Reaper weapons only range in the Kilotons.

The metal that Reapers are made out of is a refined organic material.

The Covenant Armada is about the same number as the Reaper Fleet. Unlike pretty much any other Government in either game series, the Covenant are fully militarized.

Don't even get me started with the Forerunners' capability.

you seem to be forgetting the 27 km long, 7 energy projector supercarrier that uses weapons that travel at lightspeed and completely bypass kinetic shielding, therefore being able to one shot any of the reapers.

The strongest navy weapon in ME fires at 38 kilotons fully charged.

The weakest ship gun in Halo fires at about 60 kilotons fully charged.

The Forerunners. need I say more?

slipspace cannon that shoots nukes across the galaxy (from Ghosts of Onyx)

Despite not knowing much about them, the shear technological scale of the Precursors flattens anything in Mass Effect.

The Flood. Again, need I say more?

If you knew anything about Halo, you'd know Mass Effect can't possibly win.

The Flood would actually be handicapped. They require organic matter that is unrefined (i.e. the matter cannot originate from Reapers or Husks). Each assault on a Reaper will lower their numbers.

From what we have seen the Reapers would beat everything. However, we don't know how strong the Forerunner or Precursors were.

That is incorrect. The Citedal Races' ships have laughable shields, size, and firepower if we were to compare them to other video game series.

No, the Reapers will beat everything in ME, that's a big difference. ME and Halo are in a different firepower league, Halo is in the much higher one.

Here the most important thing when Tier 2 and up races are brought in this battle:
KINETIC BARRIERS DO NOT WORK AGAINST ENERGY WEAPONS
A Covenant Corvette is capable of destroying a Reaper!

And seriously, we already discussed this to death in the previous thread which the OP obviously never read...
Here OP, read the entire thread, they are enough reasons why Me is not capable of defeating Halo, I'm not going to write it all again.

  • 12.12.2010 3:34 PM PDT

Can we please stop with these pointless comparison threads? This forum is for discussing the Halo universe, not comparing it with others.

Everything about them is laughable, but still enough ME fanboys claim the Reapers will destroy everything in the 40k universe...

okay, I get it. Halo would clearly win. Now please show some pity and let this thread rest in peace.

then the gravemind will swat them like a fly.

He's upwards of 25 000 kilometers long, and the Reapers are--what? 2 kilometers?

thought i should point out that plasma is actually something, not some magic material that simply passed through everything, it still has mass, interacts with things, etc. so i wouldn't be so sure protection against kinetic weapons wouldn't be effective against plasma. also and UNSC MACs are kiloton - megaton range, not gigaton, gigatons are stupidly powerful, you could destroy something like france with a gigaton worth of energy, not a mere spacecraft.

They are variable. A 343I employee, when asked about the messed up MAC figures (Why there where so many), gave the answer that there are different models. I would guess that it depends on the ship. (Longer ship means longer coils in the MAC barrel, and a larger reactor to power them).

So a Marathon class cruiser would have higher yields than a Frigate etc.

Second post - Look for user called Vociferous.
