Ok I am in need of some help here. About a week and a half ago I was hosting a great game but then somehow my hosted server shut down on me. After that happened I tried to host another server and it all seemed to be going well I was logged in, the map seemed fine, and everything. So I just ran around blowing things up while waiting for someone to join but 2 entire 30 minute games went by and not one person joined.

I don't know what’s going on. I normally get non stop people logging into my server but now no one comes at all. I know it’s not a slow day or anything like that but there is something wrong. I’m not sure if my server is even showing up on the server listings anymore; or if it's showing up but it wont let people join.

Can anyone help me out? I know it’s not my fir walls because I have shut all of them down and it still dose the same thing. If anyone has any clue as to how to fix this problem please give me detailed instructions on how to fix it.

Thanks.

[EDIT] here is some info on our computer and all that...

first off is this for ce?
your problem is that you server doesnt show up on the other peoples server list. on the microsoft.com website says 2 things that could explain this I have 5. 1) people have filters on so they can't see the server. 2) your halo.exe file is damaged or theirs is. 3) if ce not many people play ce and/or dont have the map your doing. 4) when you click multiplayer on the main screen did you click on lan acidentily? 5) your firewall might be on try turning it off.
one or more of these should explain why your problem is happening

Ok I know it is not my firewall and what do u mean by "your halo.exe file is damaged" what is the Halo.exe file? And how would I go about fixing it?

and what is a "Ce?"

ok if the halo.exe file is damaged the microsoft website said to locate it in your files probably in c:programfiles/microsoftgames/halo somewheres in the halo folder and it said to deleate it and copy it off the cd. an easier way is just to reinstall halo. and CE is halo custom edition which you probably dont have then.
and a 6th way this might happen is you might not have the updated version i think it is version 1.07 or 1.08 im not sure last i knew it was 1.07 but i think they updated it. ill go check

Okay, as desperate as you are, this isn't helping your situation by spamming up the forums. We are not tech support, we are forum composed of gamers just like yourself. If nobody's replying to a thread, there's probably a reason why, in this case, nobody knows what's going on.

Bump your old thread, but don't create a new one. Our forums are cluttered enough as is.

This is so off topic, but...

Speaking as an experienced forum user, Yanksfan, there's a fine line between asking for help and spamming. Posting two threads on the same topic confuses people and is generally called spam. Besides, it won't get you help any faster.

Either way, I already posted the same darn advice three times on three different threads for two different members, one of which happens to be the creator of this thread. You can't help but get slightly annoyed after hearing a third call for help when all ideas from all members have already been exhausted.

Excuse me but no not everyone has put in there thoughts u never know when some random person can come by and give great information to you. And as for re-posting this I only did it because the other thread I posted was way too vague and was already pushed down about 4 pages!

So I am not spamming you my friend are spamming!!!! Like you said there is a fine line between spamming and asking for help and you my friend are spamming and I am asking for help so I suggest you stop talking now.

Also the AR is actually good in CQB now and no longer a glorified baseball bat.

This guy isn't spamming.
Also, that how to guide isn't official, and it isn't even stickied.
If he was spamming then he would have posted multiple topics, had tons of posts in a row, and more.
He is just asking for help, and most people in here probably would be glad to give help if they could.

Ok that may be why it’s not working but tell me were you on a laptop or desktop? We have the router and all that for my dad’s laptop but would that really do anything to my connections on halo? Because I’m using a desktop...

That guide was written by me, and it was stickied for a while. You can find it in the sticky titled the guides::READ ME FIRST!. I would call the how-to guide semi-official if the mods decided to sticky it. I'm sure the mods are as fed up with the spam and annoying CAPS LOCKS CRIES FOR HELLLLPPPPP as me15ter, myself, and all of the other forum regulars are.

If you want better chances of getting help, make ONE thread, don't repeatedly ask for help on the same problem in multiple posts, describe your problem thoroughly, and list system specs and other hardware (i.e. router, DSL/Cable). Other than that, try to help youself using common sense and google, or contact some real tech support.

Th is thread is an official guide posted by a real moderator. Scroll down to the Miscellaneous section: Posting In The Maw. Click on that link. That's the very same thread I referenced. Yes it is endorsed by the moderators. And there's a very good reason why.

And Wild has posted this twice, actually. He should've simply bumped his other thread. Besides, using caps is something that gives you a vibe of inferior intelligence, something that makes the regulars less inclined to help you.

Posted by: Yoozel
Don't post in all caps, it makes you look like a jackass.

You are right, most would be willing to help, but people do get annoyed when you've griped about the same thing in two different threads. And when you don't give ANY computer specs. How can we help you without a clue what your problem is? If you would really like help, tell what kind of computer you have, what hardware you have, internet connection type, error messages that come up, etc. And when other members have asked the exact same question. Like MA5B and aM Inspire have mentioned, in all honesty, a Google search would probably solve this problem

One other thing: It's not your thread. It's bungie's. It became bungie's as soon as you clicked that Submit button.

Listen: if a thread isn't getting a reply, there's a reason why it isn't. In this case, it's because nobody knows the solution to your problem. Bump it a bit later on, but don't gripe about it and start posting the same topic again.
