Subject: The 2nd Best Spartan-II?

Think before you post

Assuming that Master Chief is the best Spartan-II, who would you say the second best is and why? If you think there is one better than Chief, who and why?

Fred. Just as good as John, but John has the luck advantage.

  • 12.14.2010 1:59 AM PDT

Probably Fred

Tho id say Linda purely due to her ridiculous sniping skills - Sniping an elite out of a banshee - Damn man "Happy face"

An also cause she's probably one of my favourite characters

The luckiest =/= the best

Anyway, I'm pretty sure Fred, Will and Linda are the best Spartan-IIs, and them being better than John.

Fred was better than John at almost everything, but he didn't want the attention of being first so he literally let John win.

Signatures are for squares.

Fred was better than John in every category. John's only advantage was that he was lucky.

Fred was the second best "in everything" It's said he could have been the best if he wanted, he just wanted the attention.

  • 12.14.2010 5:51 AM PDT

In the books wasn't Will 2nd in command, followed by Kelly in 3rd?

I think would be Kurt then Fred.

P.S. Plus Kurt had a highest rank than the Master Chief, so I think, he would be best fit.

Woah! seriously dude? have you read the books? It says among all the Spartans, Fred was the only who was close enough to compare to the chief, and even the chief though even he wasn't good enough, he tried hard to stay in second in command.

True...BUT! In the Fall of Reach, Fred had the great idea to blow out a Covenant warship with Nukes, and he blow out the ship and the thousands of Covenants stationated on the ground, that ment: Elites, Grunts, Jackals and probably more than 2 Hunters, don't you think?

Technically was 3 Spartans in 3 Banshees against ten thousands of covies, but the idea was Fred's.

John and Fred, John was cool and Fred was quite a likable character.

  • 12.14.2010 9:17 AM PDT

That's not what the books say about Fred.
In fact, Johns leadership abilities were one of his only advantages over the other Spartans.
Kelly was faster, Linda was a better shot, John was a good all rounder and Fred was a better all rounder.

Oh, come on, that can't count. I've done that many times across the trilogy.

Kurt. Yeah John did have the luck advantage, but Kurt kind of did too he had that sixth sense to tell when something wasn't right.

Linda is a pretty cool guy

She snipes Elites out of banshees whilst hanging upside down from a moving cable and she doesn't afraid of anything.

About me: I am a vicious wolf of a man.

But really am sweet at heart. =)

Fred, he is an excellent leader, maybe even better than the Chief. I would have him at my side any day.

  • 12.21.2010 7:14 AM PDT

The four best leaders, according to Halsey's Journal, were John, Fred, Kurt, and Jerome (Halo Wars).

As for best Spartan, it's hard to quantify. Best in what? Will would beat Linda hand to hand, but would get destroyed in a sniping contest. Fred could outdo Samuel with knives, but Samuel would have no trouble outdoing him in raw strength.

If you are going for a series of tests, to determine who is the best Spartan for an assortment of situations, then that is Fred. According to canon, and John's own assessment, Fred was the best Spartan.

Fred came in second place in every contest, but John theorized that was because he chose not to win. Fred didn't like attention. Halsey's statement that only one other Spartan was considered hyper-lethal (in addition to Noble Six) would refer most likely to John.....but also to Fred, had he not intentionally lowered his qualifiers in all tests.

Woah! seriously dude? have you read the books? It says among all the Spartans, Fred was the only who was close enough to compare to the chief, and even the chief though even he wasn't good enough, he tried hard to stay in second in command.

The books don't say this.

I say Kurt, from Ghosts of Onyx. Trained the Spartan IIIs, and gave his life to destroy a Covenant Army on Onyx with a couple of cut-down FENRIS warheads.
