By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

At the end of Halo 2, The forunner dreadnought went to earth, and at the same time, Arby n the Johnson found out about The ark.

And IF the forunners had better technology than humans and the covenant, then truth must have gotten their first, but Johnson was on earth before MC landed.

I'm not someone who knows alot of the halo universe, so can someone please explain?

The Dreadnaught did get there first, it didn't land immediately, it stayed in space above Earth for 9 days before landing in Africa.

"Question. Which Spartan is best?"
"That's a ridiculous question."
"False. Master Chief."
"Well, that's debatable. There are basically two schools of thought."
"Spartans shoot Sangheili. Spartans. Sangheili.....Battle Star Galactica."

Dreadnaught stopped for a burger on the way. Made them late.

A short answer: they were traveling at the speed of plot.

A longer answer: Nerdrage made them scrap the Arbiter levels, so Bungie had to find the earliest possible spot to begin the game with both characters for co-op.

A canon answer: The dreadnaught lagged behind and took out the orbital defenses.

Truth did have to bring an entire fleet with him.

Didact's Reprisal -
Now is the time of our unworlding
One final effort is all that remains
And I am not afraid
We shall fulfill our promise
We fight for the grace of the Mantle
And this time none of you will be left behind

But wasn't the dreadnaught unarmed at this time?

According to Halo: Uprising it appears that the dreadnought dropped out of slipspace somewhere in the outer reaches of the solar system, it then proceeded to earth at sublight speeds.

I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that.

It was unarmed when Truth and his gang came to power. Considering all the other agreements with the Elites they made a point of breaking, it's probable that they put weapons back in the dreadnaught. Really, it's not much of a dreanaught if it can't... dread.

Online Gaming's pretty much like a zombie movie. There are a lot of mindless idiots roaming around but you find some survivors on the way.

they had the weapons disabled while docked, but they could have reengaged them upon leaving for Earth.

That and Cortana said the Forerunner ship would destroy the earth defenses in the end of Halo 2

"They rode on chuck norris' back while drinking POWERTHIRST!"

This is the new official answer; kneel down before the combined might of Arby, Johnson, Norris, and Thirst!

The only problem with that is that if the Keyship's weapons had been reactivated, then why didn't Truth use it in the space battle above the Ark. It would have easily destroyed the Separatist Fleet, leaving the UNSC/Elites on the ground easy targets.
