Check out 8 1/2 SPARTANS

Marathon takes place 200 years after the events in HALO.

So, would that make the Halo franchise a prequel to Marathon?

Message me if you want, I will try to get back as soon as possible.

See you on the forums and in the games.

Just because the same developer made the games, doesn't mean they are the same franchise.

Online Gaming's pretty much like a zombie movie. There are a lot of mindless idiots roaming around but you find some survivors on the way.

is there anything else that it has in common with halo apart from it being 200 years later? no. completely different storyline and completely different aliens. take a step back from your keyboard and have a good long think about what you just typed up there.

Also the main character is in cryo for 200 years before he arrives at Marathon. Master Chief went into cryo at the end of Halo 3. Coincidence?

It depends where 343 wants to take the franchise. 200 years is plenty of time to find a new ememy.

Halo is the spiritual precursor to the Marathon games, if I'm not mistaking.

Bungie said that they are not in the same universe. Halo is not the prequel to Marathon.

Coincidence?

Yes, it is wholly coincidence, and moreover, a case of seeing what you want to see.

The Halo and Marathon canons are completely separate; one is not a precursor for the other, nor a sequel/prequel. There are numerous substantial differences between the two works that are immediately apparent to anyone with even a cursory knowledge of the respective titles.

One of the better examples which illustrate this is the fact that the Security Officer from the Marathon trilogy is a battleroid; essentially a cyborg created from the body of a dead solider. Obviously this is contrary to any claims that Master Chief is the main character from the Marathon trilogy, as we know that Spartans were certainly not created from corpses.

Numerous other inconsistencies between the two universes exist and make any connections between the two all but impossible to make outside of overzealous fan-boyism or a need to 'retcon for cash'.

So the Master Chief can kick butt with 200-year-old armor?

MC can kick ass with a popsicle stick and a safety pin if he wanted to.

I can see him unlocking a weapons cache while eating a tasty popsicle

Mark VI =/= Security Armor.

You're right, it's impossible to change armor.

You're implying that MC woke up in the Leonardo 200 years after Halo 3. In that case, he would have no time to change his armor as he would be launched into Durandals trap (as described in Marathon's game manual) and be forced to crash into the Marathon.

Cortana played dress up with MC?

Would make an interesting sight for the Pfhor, and if any security outfits were present near the hangar it could work.

But then there's the presence of Cortana that screws everything up. I find it impossbile that she could be quiet through an entire game.

"There's two of us in here, remember!"
"Brutes!"
"This cave is not a natural formation."
"Blah blah blah, da da da, blah blah blah, etc. etc."

The Pfor was messing with the AIs on the ship, maybe he didn't bring her along because he didn't want her knowledge to be stolen or for her to become anymore corrupted.

So Cortana atually FOLLOWED the Chief's orders? And how would MC have gotten into the Leonardo anyway? He'd have to be out and about for a couple of days, find a ship, and then fly it into A random Moon.

Huh

The Security Officer arrived at the Marathon in a shuttle.

Yeah, and he isn't as strong and uses weapons that he just found on the ground somewhere.
