I was just about to buy both Halo 1 and Halo 2 for PC but I wanted to see if people still played them first. Also, will I be able to hook up an Xbox 360 controller to play them?

Pioneer and Enthusiast for Halo 3.

People still play Halo PC and Halo 2 PC.
Yes, you can also hook up your wired Xbox 360 controller.
You may need to know further about each game.

Yeah. That's right. I don't have a 50 in H3. I never got Onyx in Reach. If a game sucks too much, I won't even bother trying for such trivial "accolades". Besides, I've done way more things that take far more skill and talent than anything that can be done in a video game.

People play both, but the HPC has roughly 10x the player count of H2V at any given time.

Controllers can be used for either game, but there is no aim assist on HPC.

Is the lack of aim assist extremely noticeable in Halo pc? More specifically, is it easy to adjust to or is it too difficult to overcome?

50 in H2/H3? Great, but you still fail at this.

Easy to adjust, as you only use mouse in Halo PC anyway.

People above said you could use a 360 controller.

I just found an article from Microsoft explaining how to do it too. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/909385

Use a controller if you want to, but, the Keyboard/Mouse is 10x greater than any controller. The aim assist is put there because of this fact. I played with a controller (I have skills with a controller because I started out gaming on consoles. First shooter I ever really got into was Halo: Combat Evolved on the Xbox) and I didn't get nearly half the kills/headshots as I did with the Mouse/Keyboard. It's not as much of an advantage as people make it seem to be. The video that's usually shown to demonstrate why it's such an advantage is not even actual gameplay. It's just some PC gamer freaking out like a caveman seeing a jet fighter.

I got 6 of them in one game. It wasn't the "Okay guys, let's give each other some Achievements!" scenario, either. Like Shock said, three of them do take time and patience.

The bungie.net community is the halo PC community that is renowned for being unbelieveably sucky.

Furthermore, with a controller on Halo PC, the movements are "on off." I'm guessing that that would make aiming with a controller very difficult.
