Playing the campaign alot lately I've come to question myself to why Jorge carries a heavy-ass turret around.
It doesn't seem natural for a Spartan II to forfeit everything he's capable off by dedicating his entire "space" to such a large weapon. Spartan II's are supposed to be agile, fast, get out of and be able to destroy a group of enemies in the blink of an eye. By carrying this weapon and the huge ammunition sack he isn't, like I said, capable of doing those things.
Yes, he is strong as a bear, and could probably rip the spine out of the back of an Elite if he got the chance to, but he can't even sprint. Not the Armor Ability, but simply running, like both you and I are capable of.
He also has a bunch of random, HUGE armor pieces glued to his suit that must weigh a ton. For example the shoulder guards and the huge chest armor.
Noble Team never really had any missions where such a huge suppresive weapon was required. It probably came in handy in a couple of assaults, but..
Try comparing him to John aka Master Chief. Imagine playing through the trilogy with nothing but a turret. Sounds slow, doesn't it? And an Elite, even a Brute, is intelligent enough to get his butt behind cover when a turret-wielding guy is approaching. Maybe not gameplay-wise, but you get the point.
In my opinion a Spartan should use weapons that are easy to wield, mobile, and only use very heavy weapons in special situations, and when out of ammunition; exploit all the Covie guns laying around.
I bet Jorge's potential as a Spartan II would do alot more good than what he did in the game. Not saying that he was inneffective, he actually killed some people.. But if he atleast had an assault rifle or a grenade launcher so that he could actually move faster WHILE killing stuff, the story would've turned out different for him.
We all love the crazy heavy weapons specialist who walks around, pumping lead in everything that moves. But in this case it's a genetically enhanced, augmented and extremely experienced super soldier whose powers and capabilities should've been fully exploited.
Any thoughts? This wall of text ended up twice as long as I intended..
