I disagree with you in every area. And not just because I was almost suckered into joining a religion based around Halo:CE, but because I have never had any of these issues. The only thing I can sympathise with you on is getting lost, but this only happens to me on 343GS. Any other level is nearly immpossible to get lost on.

The campaign is the same thing over and over. its been a couple years since ive played campaign.

Evidently not.

You're probbably right.

What comes to Halo CE campaign, it's near perfect. Only problem is that there are times when you run through similar spaces but we can blame hardware and engine limitations for that. What I like about Halo CE is, unlike OP said, the fact you can actually go through places by just running and shooting every enemy. This is the reason Halo CE has my favorite campaign.

What comes to OP's other problems, the Flood hit distance is understandable. They have tentacles coming out of their hand. If you really are stupid enought to go into CQ situation with them, you deserve to die.

Suugested by OP's difficulty to handle Halo CE, bit over 300 Halo 3 games and Bungie.net join date of 09/23/2010, I would assume OP isn't an actual Halo veteran but somebody who got their first Halo game in June of 2009.

Don't lie that you are a Halo veteran if you aren't. It makes you look stupid. Your opinion is as valid as opinion of anyone else even if you're not a real veteran.

I agree with everything you just said. As for OP, I just looked at his games list and his service record and he's never even played Halo 1 or 2 because neither are in his games list. Thus, your arguments are pointless. Don't complain about a game you don't even have.

I agree. As for someone complaining about reaches radar when they spawn I am guessing it was a active camo.Back to topic though, he could have played it on pc or something like that we cannot be sure over it I am ot defending him at all I am also not going against him I am just pointing this out. For the people who say halo CE was perfect it wasnt. I love halo and i have everyone doubles of 1 and triples of halo 3 but i wouldnt say it is perfect. The sotry line and campaign was great and still is the graphic have 'faded' compared to the graphics of our time now but back then were excellent but saying the game is perfect is saying you could get everyone to like the. It may be perfect in your opninion as it is with alot of people but going of at people of certain opninions seems a bit harsh. I bet you hate game other people find perfect and you want to complain about them I know i do with CoD in my opninion its sucks but that is my opinion. Yes i agree he should have played the game if he hadnt if he did he shouldve played it for a bit longer before jumping to a conclusion i remember playing it years ago and i loved it. Sure there might be a few bugs. But if it is his opninion to say he doesnt like the game its his choice to post it on a Halo site full of fans and he probably some people to agree but alot to disagree and as for baby steps i never noticed it I did not have to hang back and wait often only a little bit on the libary in halo 3 there was no chance of getting lost it was a one way game i still loved it and i still do but their was only one 3 way battle in it at the end and that is veyr short whyll in Halo CE their were quiet a few.

Too many times I find myself wandering around an endless construct of tunnels and hallways with no indication as to where I'm supposed to go. Everything looks the same and far too many areas are just copied and pasted from previous sections in the campaign.

As a man that plays Halo: CE every friday night with his friends, I've got to say that is spot on. There is no indication to go here, or exactly do this. That's the point. All the other Halo games have directives that indicate what must be done. We have no idea what to do when there's simply no waypoint system that allows a player to see where to go. However, this is a good thing and a bad thing. Bad that we aren't being told what to do, Good that we can get creative and determine that for ourselves. Halo: CE was an exploration of COMPLETELY unknown territory. COMPLETELY UNKNOWN. It was the first contact with the rings. So we really shouldn't know where to go or what to do. We need to scout out the areas, see what they all are, etc.

And the motion tracker sucks too. I'm a veteran Halo player and I look at my motion tracker constantly but in this game too many times I find that even when I watch my motion tracker enemies still find a way behind me.

Enemies got smart at killing you. Again and again for your failures. This is the description for Legendary and its the game that allowed the player to KNOW that it was going to happen... again and again... so get smart or get planted at the same section.

And the melee distance of the flood is TOO FAR. I see flood well over ten feet away still able to melee me. I got good at dodging flood attacks in 3 but this game is just broken in this department.

There's this thing, called moving... the flood are by far the biggest reason Halo became so popular. Because of how difficult they are. They are the hardest enemy to beat and even harder to predict movement wise. But playing smart and learning all that you can allows a player to effective give them a middle finger again and again for all their combat prowess...

The only way I can get through this game is to BABY. STEP. THE. WHOLE. WAY. That is not fun. I hate games that force you to baby. step. the. entire. campaign. or. else. you. will. die. as. soon. as. you. step. out. of. the. designed. path.

Play through it enough and you eventually get like me where i don't every stop moving on Legendary Solo...

But I know all of you will say DUDE YOU SUCK! YOU'RE NOT A TRUE HALO FAN UNLESS YOU FIND NO FAULT AT ALL IN THE ORIGINAL GAME! THE ORIGINAL IS PERRRRRRRFECT! THE SEQUELS SUCK EVEN THOUGH WE KEEP PLAYING THEM DURRRRRRRRRR!

I heart you...

Nah still the best campaign and by some way too

Play the Halo1 campaign still quite a bit and despite how each of the sequels have been good in their own way, Halo feels so completely right in so many ways

The most believable experiences iv'e had in fact, and i can't honestly see the game ageing - especially now with the remake

The argument that architecture repeating etc is a flaw, turns out to be one of the main reasons why the game worked so well- personality built from familiarity. Loads more besides that made Halo1 the fluke that it is.Incredible game

  • 06.07.2011 12:44 PM PDT

Admittedly, the gameplay was rather poor. But remember that it was made almost a decade ago, and the XBox games were rather poor to begin with. Get the remake, I expect it'll be easier then. As for tunnels and whatever, well, we can always call you a WAAAAAAmbulance.

Halo t-bags CoD.

Give it a break, it IS a 10 year old game you know.. And if you were a 'veteran' Halo player, you would have played it right when it came out. Just cause you play a game a lot, doesn't mean you are a veteran.

  • 06.09.2011 7:02 PM PDT

this is greatly offensive, ive played that campaign over 30 times it is still the most awesome thing i have ever played.

No. But I do think that you're either unnacclimated or tone deaf to the game, and are, at least in some cases, substituting in ridiculous arguments to try and explain your very real and probably reasonable discontent because you're having trouble realizing and articulating the actual problems you have with the game.

This is maybe one of the most intelligent statements / counter arguments I've ever read on b net. I actually had to read it twice, because I thought for sure I was mistaken, that there was just no way that that could have come from a b net user.

Great job, sir.

Hmm not sure I agree, One of the things I didn't like about reach was that if you strayed, even to look at the scenery a waypoint would appear, even if you were on your way to the place where the waypoint was.

The only problem with the Campaign has to be the Covies.

The Elites were perfect.

But Hunters = Grunts

They need to toughen them up (i.e. by removing Hunter flesh as critical, by making the damage modifier for their armor 0).

I noticed that there's a Hunter Major in the AI list and I've read that their armor color is darker and they have more health than a regular Hunter.

I think CEA should at least make these Hunter Majors more noticeable, maybe even distinct (i.e. gold).

I totally agree with you. But one thing I have trouble with that isn't in your post is how friggin hard it is! I've had an easier time beating Reach on Legendary than doing Two Betrayals on Normal. I literally sat there for 3 HOURS trying to get past the part where there's 2 wraiths, 2 turrets, 2 hunters, like 6 elites, and a flood guy with a rocket launcher, and it's all just to get to a stupid banshee. Not to mention all the tunnels you have to go through to shut off the generator. Also once you get to the generator, it drains your shields and there's always a flood guy standing right behind you just waiting to destroy you. Again, I had an easier time beating Reach and 3 on Legendary than this level alone.

The trick to beating this part is called "DON'T DO THE SAME THING EVERY TIME EVEN THOUGH IT DOESN'T WORK". Let the Flood & Covenant massacre each other. Backtrack and pick up power weapons. Kill the hard stuff first. Use terrain to your advantage, etc.

Run to cover. Find a hiding spot for your shields to recharge. You can also melee the popcorn without dying, quite easily.
Again, I had an easier time beating Reach and 3 on Legendary than this level alone. That's because those games are more about memorization and repeating the one or two effective tactics than adapting to the situations at hand.

Everything you've suggested I have tried. I tried letting the flood and covenant fight it out. There's still 2 wraiths, 2 hunters, and lots of elites.
