You don't want to stir up some unwanted attention, like Racism, there would be hell to pay; anyway, its a game site why would you want to talk about politics?

Because political discussions always turn into arguments and flaming. It's best to set an example by stopping the problem before it begins. Plus, there's an entire Group dedicated to political discussion (Body Politic). You'll find people there who actually want to discuss politics as opposed to flaming other peoples' opinions.

Threads don't have to be flames to be bad. Accept Political discussion is wrong here don't do it.

Because political discussions always turn into arguments and flaming.

as said before, lock the thread if that happens!

Why not eliminate the problem before it starts, instead of having yet more stuff to deal with? Political arguments are generally more difficult to deal with than your average flamewar, and the mods have more than enough on their plates as it is. Like I say, there is a Chapter for it, and ultimately, it's Bungie's site and their rules. I can't say I disagree with them.

I'm a liberal

well, if i was the teacher, i'd do the same, but worse...perhaps torture...

Yeah nice one. He was talking about being punished for disagreement, and you suggested he be tortured. That is high quality political debate. Of course a flame war is brewing in that thread now.

But now that we know that you already knew you weren't supposed to discuss politics, I wonder if that will affect the severity of punishment.

Locking is not enough.

The two things the people get most idiotic about on the internet are their politics and their religion. So, if someone starts a thread that's merely locked, someone will read it and start a new thread.

Further, people don't just post to debate politics. People post to slam other people's politics, or to use "clever" political slurs in conversation that'll offend someone who'll reply to attack THEIR politics...

The bottom line is that this is a video game website. Your politics do not belong here. And merely locking a thread isn't enough to get that point across to some people, as some people see a lock as a chance to get a last word in. So, if you can't handle the no political commentary rule, I suggest finding another forum where it's allowed.
