dds?
You export using chimp. Chimp will export to a .jms file. Make sure you put this in your [Halo CE]\tags\levels\[your level name]\ directory. then you use tool and the "tool structure levels\[your level name]\ [your jms file name]" to export it. There is a SPACE between the directory and the file
Make sure everything you want in your map is linked to an object called "frame" or chimp will not export. this goes for anything else Halo CE.

dds? ddl? You speak of Plugins for 3ds max and Gmax. These are not needed
chimp is a .ms which you put in any folder you want. You then open it using gmax's MaxScript tools.

There should be a menu option that says "maxscript" you want to open the chimp.ms file with it. this will make a menu (on the right side, i believe) that will give you all the options you need. Its pretty clear-cut from there. Just make sure you actullay look at all the tabs before saying "The menu isn there!"

go find cmd.exe (in system32 or windows, sometimes it gets moved..)
Copy it into your Halo CE folder.
Run it
It will start with:
[Drive]:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo Custom Edition\>
You type:
tool structure levels\[your map name]\ SPACE [your jms file]
and hit enter
now you wait
when its done you will see this again:
[Drive]:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo Custom Edition\>
Exit cmd and open sapien
Now comes the hard part : )
