Subject: Getting into Halo PC

Hello, I am new to the Bungie forums but not the games. I really want to play Halo CE on my PC and possibly Halo 2. I was wondering if my computer can handle it though because I don't want to buy a game and have it not work. I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 from August 2008. Here are the specs. Windows Vista Home Premium, Intel Core 2 Duo T5850 at 2.16GHz, 3GB RAM, and 32-bit OS.
I am not that smart with the computer stuff but if you could please tell me if I can play Halo on PC. Thank you.

Yeah. That's right. I don't have a 50 in H3. I never got Onyx in Reach. If a game sucks too much, I won't even bother trying for such trivial "accolades". Besides, I've done way more things that take far more skill and talent than anything that can be done in a video game.

Everything seems to check out well, but you didn't post your graphics chip's specs.

50 in H2/H3? Great, but you still fail at this.

According to google, it uses a Intel GMA x3100. It will play Halo PC on low resolution, but it will run like crap if you try to make it run higher.

I don't know what graphics card it has. Probably bad but thank you. Will Halo CE be playable or will it be very laggy? What about FPS?

My Youtube - Halo 2 Online Co-op
BUNGIE AND MICROSOFT FAILS HALO 2 VISTA.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

I recommend you buy a discrete Graphics card, there are plenty of them in the DX11 flavour and they're cheap. ;D

Oh and also, can I use an Xbox 360 controller and plug it in to play?
Where may I find these cheap graphics cards?

You need a desktop for a cheap graphics card. But stores like micro center or newegg have them dirt cheap.

And you can use a controller if you map buttons to it.

Ok thank you all. I will just pick Halo CE up soon or get it for Christmas. Maybe get Halo 2 when I get a new computer.

I can't afford a new computer now. I will probably get one next year or something.

Is this your computer?: http://www.dell.com/us/en/dfh/notebooks/inspnnb_1525/pd.aspx? refid=inspnnb_1525&cs=22&s=dfh

To view tech specs in Windows Vista or Windows 7:
1) Type Run in the start menu search bar.
2) Open Run.
3) Type msinfo32 into the Run search bar.
4) Press the Enter button on your keyboard.
5) Now the System Information window should be open.
6) Navigate to where is says Components on the left side of the System Information window. Select the "plus sign" next to Components to reveal the sub categories.
7) Select Display.
8) Now the display information should be visible.
9) The graphics card name should be at the top of the information list.

Yes that is my computer. Thank you for that info though.

Yeah id recommend picking up a cheapish graphics card.
The 965 is notorious for it's poor gaming performance. Halo will play, just not well.

The bungie.net community is the halo PC community that is renowned for being unbelieveably sucky.

Your chipset is "ok." It supports DX10.0 but isn't really intended for gaming. There seems to be two versions of the x3100 (965). edit: I read the specs wrong, nevermind, I don't know what the difference is between the two.

Mobile chipset dude. He can't install a graphics card.

  • 12.18.2010 10:41 PM PDT

Yeah I heard you can't really install graphics cards for laptops. :( But will Halo CE lag and be unplayable?

Halo CE will be playable, heck it is even playable on the even worse Intel 845!

Halo 2 will also work, but only on low (xbox 1) settings.

  • 12.19.2010 6:43 AM PDT

Oh well I didn't I could play Halo 2. Thank you very much. Hopefully I will get it soon.

  • 12.19.2010 10:11 AM PDT

I am a monument to all your sins

you should be able to play Halo CE on low specs, but mabey not Halo 2

You'd be even worse with one. Learn to harness the power of the mouse! ;)

When I click the Halo icon on my desktop, a window opens up saying my hardware is under the requirements or whatever. No problem because it works fine anyways. But I am still wary about Halo 2 Vista.
