Umm..maybe because brutes are bigger than elites. Seriously, have you even seen brutes before?

Elite beats brute in a fight because they are mutch more skilled and alot smarter

but brutes win on there actual strenght... they are just hairy bodie buiilders on a mega steriod.

Actually, after the Covenant war, Brutes and Elites still end up fighting and the Brutes are winning, Elites are getting dumber, that is one of the reasons why.

A combination of evolving on a High-Gravity World, evolving large, and having a disproportional amount of muscle.

What? The Eites aren't losing to them afterwards.

Don't worry, you're still your mom's favorite Bnet member.

Don't go by the games. The prowess of the aliens is changed for gameplay purposes. In reality, the Brutes are taller and stronger than Elites. However, Elites are smarter and more cunning.

I'm great at using sniper rifle. Here's two games where I owned with the sniper rifle for Proof.
Game1
Game2

I'm are really good at killing things. You're impressed.

How do you know the still are fighting and whose wining. If I remember right, in Halo 3 'The Ark' the elites beat and destroy a fleet 3 times bigger than their own. (Elites are cooler and have a lot more fighting skills).

They are, Brutes continue to get supplied by the remnants of the Covenant while the Elites are left to fend for themselves with dwindling resources and manpower, look it up, Brutes are winning.

Direct information of the war between the two races in 2559.

"The Great Schism rages on. While the Jiralhanae wage their own internecine wars, the Sangheili themselves are gradually losing their fleets in a war of attrition, having lost the technical expertise kept exclusively by the Prophets."

It was stated in The Return that the Brutes essentially went back to their fuedal system. Their leaders, the Prophets, are effectively wiped out.

They are essentially more interested in fightng eachother than anything else.

The Elites, at the rate they were going, would have destroyed the remainder of the Brutes before they completely lost their escourcs.

No, the Brutes would never be whipped out, If the Elites even had any ships to spare, they wouldn't bother wasting them on glassing Doisac, they would be more tactical and use it as a defensive ship for Sanghelios as Brutes still had dozens of ships left, most likely busy battling other brute ships but still, Elites wouldn't bother as if they went for Doisac, both the Brutes that were fighting each other would go for the Elite first and then finish each other off.

while the Elites had very few, they wouldn't bother using their last resources to make more ships either. Brutes would never be finished off, they are just to tough for the Elites.

Elites are equal to Spartans in hand to hand.
Brutes will slaughter a Spartan or Elite, apparently (given that Elites are apparently much smarter).

You can't call gameplay canon. Gameplay STORY is canon. But gameplay itself is not. I mean, in canon the chief probably had more than two ways to do a beatdown with a gun. He probably didn't jump that high whenever he walked around. He probably didn't try to beatdown hunters. The Sniper didn't suddenly lose night-vision. Rockets probably didn't lose the ability to lock on, then magically gained it again a week later.

See what I'm saying though, even though my examples were bad? Things changed for gameplay purposes don't change canon. Things changed for STORY purposes change canon.

Well, Brutes are pretty deadly in the books..

If I heard correctly, a Brute almost kills John in a hand to hand fight.

You shouldn't try to use the games to determine this kind of stuff.

He should use the games to determine this stuff, because the games are actual cannon. Not the books.

I allways thought it was the engineers who manufactured the ships, not the Prophets. So surely the Elites could have asked the Engineers to make them ships.

Engineers built them, The prophets supplied them with the supplies. You can't build a ship with no resources.

Soon to be breaking news:

US Coast Guard prepares for massive rescue mission after Iranian fleet sinks off shore. Reports say a small thunderstorm caused most of the ships to simply...fall apart.

I guess I should have said that you shouldn't use gameplay for that.

The books are canon.

Brutes=tanks with supreme strength and extreme senses.

Elites=speedy, stealthy, honorable fighters with undying skill and passion.

Both nearly had John killed. One a Zealot and then and a Brute Major.

Where did MC just about die from a Zealot?

First Strike. I recall when he's fighting the Black Zealot in Zero-G. It nearly slices him open with the sword and he then snaps its wrist or something and struggles for minutes before killing it.

Brutes are stornger than Elites but Elites are still extremely strong. And Brutes are sponges but that is due to toughness not strength. I agree though that in a fair hand to hand fight an Elite would win. Check out my thread I created, I go more in depth: http://www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx?postID=54165985

This man, this man right here put it so eloquently that I actually cancelled my own 2000+ word long post.
/slow clap for respect

:)
The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

Brutes are stronger. They use more brute force in combat, thus their name. While the Elite's are faster and smarter thus their name.

In the books the Brutes are defenantly very dangerous.

  • 12.18.2010 6:01 PM PDT

Oh yeah and Elites are actually bigger than Brutes . Elites in Halo CE were 8'6" until then got downsized so they would be more compatible for multiplayer.

elites are tougher in the games and aparrently the books are pretty much non-cannon if the games are different. also in the first strike when he fought a brute in the actual games the brutes wernt introduced yet as a fightable enemy so it was still concept.

The games aren't different. I love how everyone who doesn't read the books says they ain't cannon.

EVEN BUNGIE says they're cannon. The books are cannon, deal with it.

Bungie didn't say the game's cannon was to be used over the books, Joe Staten did. To cover his ass after a few errors he made in the Halo novel HE wrote (BTW, he also wrote Halo 1 and 2.)

Alright kid, if you want the games to be canon, put the game settings on Legendary with all skulls on, now that would be canon.

except Catch, catch wouldn't be canon
