Subject: how are brutes stronger than elites?

I just noticed, if elite are supposed to be 7' something and Brutes 9' then look at the halo 2 cutscene were Arbiter is walking to the Prophets and witnesses the Elites handing over their Honor gear. Notice that the Brutes only look a bit taller than Elites, their ain't that much in it at all. And merry Christmas also ;)

Brutes aren't as mentally slow as they apear in combat they are more stronger and actually its hard to break it to u thier more intelligent than elites

all men are equal, except i am more equal than you because i am alive and you are dead

i agree brutes are in the books much more powerful than an elite

Attention whores piss me off.

Brutes are physically stronger than Elites are.

Elites, however, are better warriors because they don't fight among themselves and use superior tactics in skirmishes. Plus it helps being more agile and having better armor.

Brutes=tanks with supreme strength and extreme senses.

Elites=speedy, stealthy, honorable fighters with undying skill and passion.

Both nearly had John killed. One a Zealot and then and a Brute Major.

Where did MC just about die from a Zealot?

First Strike. I recall when he's fighting the Black Zealot in Zero-G. It nearly slices him open with the sword and he then snaps its wrist or something and struggles for minutes before killing it.

That zealot is the Arbiter i believe, well before he was the Arbiter.

That wasn't the Arbiter.
And the Brutes evolved on a planet with twice as much gravity as Earth's.
The range for the heights of elites range from 7ft to 8ft 6 inches.
While Brutes stand at an average of 8ft 6inches.

Where did it say elites were 7'2"? That would make them only 2 inches taller than a spartan, which is obviously not the case.

The Bestiarium and the Encyclopaedia.

The encyclopedia says 7'4" and Bestiarium says 8'6". In reach it is much closer to the 8'6".

Bottom left hand corner.

Remember that in reach you aren't a SII, so they seem larger

Noble 6 is the same height as Master Chief, and that picture says 7'4".

"The Emperor Protects"
"Suffer Not To Let The Unclean Live"

think about it brutes are twice the size of an elite but will never have near the martial prowess of the sanghelli

first off super quote and no SPARTAN IIIs are just a bit bigger than the avarage human thats it they would be about 5'11'' at least

In Fall of Reach, an Elite is a tough match for John, but ultimately about even. When he encounters a brute in First Strike he's pretty much completely overpowered and relies on more 'advanced' fighting skills - and anti-tank mines.

Additionally, taller =/= stronger, if anything it makes them weaker - Brutes are built more like tanks.

Haha yeah AT mines that was pretty smart

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

Brutes are like fighting a bear. They're stupid, but ferocious and unpredictable. Elites are strong too, but not as strong as Brutes. Also, Elites are smart, which makes them predictable. Overall, Brutes are the tougher enemy. Read HeadHunters in Halo Evolutions. The two SPARTAN-III's in the story discuss this.

Anyway, the games don't do a good job of showing the ferocity of the Brutes. If you read the books, especially the short story: Stomping on the Heels of a Fuss in Halo Evolutions, it displays the real brutality

You fail, Chief is indeed 6'11, without armor, when he's in it, he's at least 7'4, Carter is 6'8, once in Armor, 6'10.

Elites are equal to Spartans in hand to hand.
Brutes will slaughter a Spartan or Elite, apparently (given that Elites are apparently much smarter).

You can't call gameplay canon. Gameplay STORY is canon. But gameplay itself is not. I mean, in canon the chief probably had more than two ways to do a beatdown with a gun. He probably didn't jump that high whenever he walked around. He probably didn't try to beatdown hunters. The Sniper didn't suddenly lose night-vision. Rockets probably didn't lose the ability to lock on, then magically gained it again a week later.

See what I'm saying though, even though my examples were bad? Things changed for gameplay purposes don't change
canon. Things changed for STORY purposes change canon.

Elites are equal in terms of strength but not skill or reflexes. Kelly for example, the weakest spartan, broke an elite's wrist when he swung at her with a sword and, in one movement, sliced him and three other elites in half

We don't know how tall Carter is in armor, and chief is 7'2" in armor

Elites are smarter and all, but in terms of power, a Brute is way stronger.

Agreed: they don't live up to their potential in the games (heres hoping 343 will make a more gritty Halo with truely brutal Brutes), but in the books....oh my, they really deserve their names there.

Ripping off arms/heads/anything really. Eating humans. Killing their own troops if their in their way. Going berserk and almost killing Spartans with their bare hands (1 almost killed the Chief on the Unyielding Hierophant). Not to forget, something the games never show: a Brute is almost 3 meters high...thats HUGE.
I hope we will someday see packs of these Brutes in a Halo game.

A Brute fighting and Elite in CQC would be like a bodybuilder(Brute) vs someone with great skill in martial arts with a considerable amount of strength(Elite)

Brutes are stronger (Not by much though) then Elites but Elites are smarter, faster and are better trained then Brutes.

Brutes are much tougher than elites. Just imagine how a extremely well trained brute would be. Brutes have better senses, and are better physically. If brutes would not stab each other and rage, they could easily take down a high ranking elite in Hand to hand.
