"Don't mistake your rank and number for superiority.
The oldest child may learn from the youngest."
The Two Betrayals Intro is my favorite in the entire series followed by The Maw intro.
Two Betrayals is great because so many things take place in that scene. You find out the true purpose of the Halo rings, Guilty Spark infers you are or are at least descended from the Forerunners, and Cortana shows signs of rampancy just to name a few. It's all done with a subtlety that the later Halo games lack too. Guilty Spark doesn't just come out and tell you "You are Forerunner," but rather hints at it in his reaction to your refusal to set off the ring. The signs of Cortana's possible rampancy are even more sublte. During her little tirade, she keeps changing colors between Blue, Red, and Green. All colors that represent the three stages of rampancy...Melancholia (depression) = Blue, Anger = Red, and Jealousy = Green.
I love the opening to the Maw because a crashed ship with the Marathon logo on it reminds me of several ships in the Marathon series.
Finally, the two cutscenes that bug me the most are Return to Sender (end of level 1 of Halo 2) and the Halo 3 Intro.
"Return to Sender" because they took one of the best, most badass trailers of all time and turned it into a flying, purple space potato.
My reasoning for disliking the Halo 3 intro may sound kinda picky, but it is what it is. They should have ended Cortana's monologue before she said the word "luck." It's one of those things that sounds much cooler on paper. I realize they wanted everyone who didn't read the books to be in on it, but I think it would have been much cooler to just leave it a question.
