It's been a year since we last saw the Chief, along with his new look and moves. And I can't help but think about how these new moves & abilities will play out come Halo 2! Lets forget about dual wielding right now, and jump into the world of Halo: Grand Theft Auto... Which could lead to dual wielding. Who knows?

Have you ever thought about which vehicles should, or shouldn't, be hijack'able?

Have you ever wondered about the process of vehicle hijacking, and how it could play out in-game?

How would you have the controls work when it comes to hijacking a Ghost or WortHog? How hard would you make it to hijack a vehicle? Do you want full control of hijacking? Come on guys, lets have some fun. Vehicle hijacking should be so much more kickass than what was shown in last years demo.

I think banshees should be the easist to hijack. What do you PC players think about that? What do you banshee whores think about that?

Banshee jacking would be almost impossible. The thing should always be in the air, and shouldn't be going slow enough to be jacked.

Imagine this then:

You are hiding on a cliff (through the use of dynamic lighting, they can't see you)

Here comes a Banshee, flying along the cliff edge; then goes you, jumping off the cliff, Goldeneye (the movie) style

You grab the guy in the Banshee, throw him to his death, and you pull up just in time to miss the cliff edge you were about to hit

^^^ Banshee jacking would be subtle and only available in special situations, but this is Bungie

Banshee jacking = count on it :)

The Master Chief emerged from his code. After seeing his dynamically lit realtime shadow, he went back for 9 more months of development.

Behold the power of the Originals, the Gods Axeone-Neurone.

If its driveable its boardable.

definutely, and like they've told us, it all depends on the speed of the vehicle... im just wonderin if the person getting jacked can defend the move... heres hopin itll be like paper rock scissors, that way u could be a bystander watching from afar as a jacking fight goes on in mid travel between to adversaries, moving across the level

the vehicle has to be going slow to be jacked... so the best defensive move to go fult speed or not at all.

this could lead to some interesting campaign tactics... in Halo there were vehicles waiting for you... in Halo 2 you might have to steal one to complete the mission or even if you didn't need a vehicle you draw out an elite in a ghost, steal the ghost, and the level could play totally different.

Looking forward to stealing a wraith... jump on top, flip open the lid, shotgun blast to the elite, and bombs away!

OLD NEWS ALERT:
also, the grunts in the ghosts (E3 demo) should be pretty easy to "snipe and steal"

I think they should only include vehicle hijacking in SP. Think about CTF in Blood Gulch, you use a warthog to get to the other base, you take the flag, and you get back in the warthog. You accelerate, then someone jumps out of the base and steals your warthog, and you're dead... Don't think it will work well in MP

They've already showed some outlines of MP hijacking in OXM.

Cobalt Warrior: That'd be awesome... it's not like only the other team can hijack. Plus you just have to go faster and you'll kill them...

You guys really have 2 find the scans that where stollen from OXM (official xbox magazine) they had an interview with Bungie, and got lots of new info and pictures, those have been scanned and leaked on the internet!
And on one of the pages you can find the -blam!- about hijacking vehicles, now you can also hijack tanks, so those noobs get thrown out and get a taste of there own -blam!-!
This is tha site where i found the scanned pages: http://anihina.com/forums/showthread.php?s=76102a0cfefb2b70d7 6557d7541d6302&t=5877

Well me and my friends play a gametype called Truckin. More Specifically the map is Blood Gultch, the Gametype is Slayer, Only warhogs are used as vehicles, with a plasma gun only weapon selection. We also play Frag truckin with the default map weapon selection, but the style of play is drastically altered this way. But I've always had more fun with plasma. Also infinite grenades has to be off.

The only self controlled rule in the game, is that you can not SHOOT your weapon unless you're seated in a warthog. You can melee and you can toss your plasma grenades But you really dont have a ton of killing power unless you have 3-6 guys in the warthogs.

Hijacking is going to drastically change this gametype for me and my friends in a new fun way. As you can probably figure out, The game starts off with a mad dash for the warthog, both teams suit up and instantly go after each other. and Since the passenger is the only who can actually shoot his weapon a well placed overcharged plasma shot can pretty much instantly guarantee your team 3 kills and a new warthog to bring back to your team. Now if you're passenger was killed in the skirmish and the driver and gunner were the only two that survived, it becomes a defending mission. Usually the team with the manned warthog needs to defend the un-manned one against swarms of plasma grenade tossing opponents untill their team makes it on foot to the second warthog. Key to winning the game is to keep on moving... However there will be one minor change to the gameplay dynamics "hijacking" that will drastically change the game.

Theretically the best way to really destory at this game is to have two warthogs always near each other circling the opponents base running people over and shooting up anythingt hat spawns while constantly giving cover to your team's warthog. However that's not always the case, as sometimes people want to grab some extra health because they survived a plasma grenade sticking on thier vehicle and want to continue their onslaught. So more often then not you end up fighting a single warthog while the other one is busy restocking health, and possibley plasma grenades. So say for instance someone pulls a private donut long toss and nails the warthog from a considerable distance, everyone in the warthog jumps out to decrease their chances of dying from the blast. another grenade is tossed on to the warthog , it blows and you see the hog tumbeling thru the air, and now you got maybe 3-5 guys from opposing teams running at the same warthog. Now sometimes you get into a big melee fight, sometimes once you get close to the hog someone else tosses a plasma grenade on it, but most of the time everyone's out of grenades and can't shoot so whoever makes it to the warthog first is usually the team who claims it. depending on how it's positioned sometimes a person will jump into the gunner's seat or the passenger's seat and try to shoot up the enemys while everyone melees each other to kill off the oposing team and take the hog. sometimes the person gets in the driver's seat and speeds away back to a lone player in the middle of the field to pick up a gunner. But In some cases you end up with a person in one of the gunner's seats and a person standing outside the warthog in a blind spot, hopelessly waiting for either the guy to try to get into the driver's seat or for more people with grenades to show up. Even when someone jumps in the drivers seat and takes off at low speeds you could pretty much tell that there would be a lot of hi-jacking and re-hi-jacking going on.

To say the least it will be an exciting gametype to try out when halo2 is released.

No, no, no! You have it all, wrong. : ) Once on board the vehicle, you could have a button for hijack, AND a button for guns. This way, I can ride the hog and let you know you're about to jacked through the headset (considering it could be linked (p2p voice) when you board the vehicle). And after that, I could either throw you out, or.... I could SMG you right in your -blam!-. And if they try to escape the vehice, I still have my hijack button that could place me comfortably in the driver seat.

Either way, you're getting JACKED!

I also wouldn't mind an option for "punch driver in face (over and over) with godly animations".

What should happen when you get jacked? Should you fall to the ground and die? Should you be stunned and lose your shield? Or should you be able to get right back up and jack that tank from the guy who just jacked it from you?

Would you like to hitch rides? Let's forget about hijacking, and think about boarding moving vehicles. What if you could board a teamates vehicle and hitch a ride to the enemy base?

Have you played the PC version? The thing is not always in the air. Actually, it never is.. Anyone here seen the Ralph and Sam video?

I think Banshees would be hardest to hi-jack. But it would be sweet indeed if it were made possible. Tanks should not be. Warthogs, Ghosts, and any open cockpit vehicles should be hi-jackable- or else!!!
