Drip drop, slice and chop, chase the rabbit, Hop! Hop! Hop! Run away, I don’t care, I will find you anywhere :)

I am not trying to be sexist in any way but physically wouldn't a male be better than a female in every way? The only real reason for having female Spartans is for their mental capabilities, but that's all I can think of...

Cave Johnson here, we're done!

PS: If you are reading this comment while imagining my voice, don't panic. That's just a side effect of the testing.

Not when they are physically augmented, at that point, their testosterone levels and estrogen levels are altered, and overall they have a little less strength than a male spartan. But strength isn't always the best option, sometimes it weighs you down, and kelly eventually catches up to you and kicks your sorry ass.

CoD is a good game, even if the Halo series are better in some aspects. Anyone who insults either is just bad in that game. Grow up.

Stronger, maybe, but everything other than that have been proven to not be true. The fastest Spartan is female, and the most capable Sniper is a female. (Who shot out 7 banshees hanging upside-down using only one arm to aim) Each Spartan II usually have some sort of specialization, and others may simply be more well-rounded, but female Spartan IIs are by no means any less effective than a male Spartan II.

I enjoy halo for it's story and when I am in the mood, its gameplay. Reach was significantly worse then I expected but was still a great game (minus the european hitscan fiasco). I am sitting on a two mile wide fence on the subject of halo 4. Most of the things I like a technical aspects though and not story or game play. Plus I am slightly mad they took my elites from MP.

I cannot speak for the spartan II program but gradual births between spartans would create the perfect 'natural' spartans that could effectivly become a sub-species or make the operations compatable to a larger population allowng the UNSC to train more spartans and to better equip them, basicly making spartans affordable for there demand against the insurrection or the Covenant

Not so. The alterations are physical and chemical, not genetic. Just because I cut your arm off doesn't mean your child will have one arm. If anything the chemical alterations would cause the child to be sick or form improperly. Either way the basis of the Spartan's augmented strength is just that, augmented, there are no genetics involved so their strength and other features would not pass. At the least, their superior genes would may make it easier to get candidates, but genetics have so much variation it is impossible to tell, without having some way to select the exact genes that makes Spartans suited for the augmentation.

That's not true they can reproduce they were just augmented to lack the sex drive to do so. You can't have a super soldier that is always thinking sex.

I believe John 117 is the most capable spartan. Seeing as how he single-handedly saved the human race and all.

You're half right, I just read TFoR not too long ago, and if I remember correctly they weren't changed to have a decreased sex drive, it sounded more like it would be a potential highly-likely side affect of the augmentation process.

And they could definitely reproduce if they wanted to. And at whoever said prospective children of SIIs would have problems because of the chemical augmentations their parents would have had, the SIs had perfectly normal, healthy children, well not exactly normal, as they could have been SII candidates. Granted the source I'm pulling this from is I love Bees, but I don't think it's completely and totally non-canon.

That's not canon, but I think the Spartan Is would be ok in my opinion. Their augmentations were relatively tame compared to the Spartan IIs. But you may be right looking back at my post, it doesn't seem like their children would be drastically effected.

He means that since the spartans were genetically superior human beings then if they all mated then their offspring would be eligible for the Spartan program as well. However since they can't mate they would have to be cloned

Right place right time is all.

No other SPARTAN was ever given the opportunity, or put into that situation. Who knows, another SPARTAN may have outperformed him - yet another may have fallen early, humanity with them.

AND you have to keep in mind that this takes place in the future, when more advanced methods of training and equipment are out. There was a point and time that the elites were stronger than the Spartans.

  • 12.19.2010 7:50 AM PDT

One of the augmentations had the possible side-effect of decreasing -blam!- drive. This does not mean every II who survived the augmentations was effected.

One Spartan II retired and planned to start a family.

On topic: Diversity in unison can be both advantageous and disasterous. While they all have their strengths and weaknesses, they cover for each other so that these are not exploited by the enemy.

Yes they can, their -blam!- drives were just slightly reduced so 'feelings' wouldn't get in the way of a mission.
