for all of you who think that $500 per unit is bad, lets do the math:
$4 Biliion (that's billion with a B) invested in research
$126 spent per system
now lets make a math problem to see how long it will take, or how many systems have to be sold in order for Microsoft to make a profit...
i think the equation would be somewhere along the lines of: 500x - 126x >= 4,000,000,000
and it can be simplified to this: 374x >= 4,000,000,000
which means that Microsoft has to sell at least 10,695,188 premium systems just to break even. However, the math is flawed because they will be making profit off of in-house games such as Kameo, Perfect Dark, Project Gotham Racing 3, and anything Halo; as well as replacement controllers, upgrades, memory cards and the such.
and for that zero hour party, all of you people who said you wish you 'could' have gone, there was only 3,000 tix distributed TOTAL. there was a contest on xbox.com for them, alas, i did not get them and sat in my dorm room writing philosophy papers and breaking down matricies.
p.s. i am planning to do a documentary on video games this summer, anyone interested send me a message.
p.p.s. i wrote this entire thing while sitting on the toilet! thank you wireless internet!
good update frankie, can't wait to hear some more coded info on your "uber secret next project"
