Subject: I Miss What Halo Used to Stand for

I could easily play Halo 2 for hours on end, it meant that I would undoubtedly have a great time. I would constantly look forward to playing it, even if it would be days til I signed back into Xbox live.

Losing interest in the Halo series is something I thought wouldn't, nay, couldn't happen to me. Alas, as inevitable as growing up or stress, Halo managed to strive away from what captivated me and so many others.

The new direction the series took ever since Halo 3 has, in my opinion, been a step back. Ultimately Bungie developed Reach. This game has the most potential I've ever seen, but the abundance of gimmicks and add-ons take away from the gameplay elements that solidified my love for Halo.

I just can't believe Bungie would take such a massive leap away from what endeared all the fans to the series. I miss Halo 2 more than ever. No game can hold a candle to it.

I'm praying that 343 Industries re-establishes the roots of the Halo series. That is if the rumors are true about the upcoming release of a CE remake, followed by Halo 4.

It was said that Superman could not be turned into a zombie, Chuck Norris decided to test this theory. We now know Superman as Jason Voorhee's.

I completley agree, Halo 2 I belive made online gaming for consoles what it is today, it had the perfect balance of pace and just overall fun, whether was getting competitive online, or just bumming around in custom games with your mates.

I didnt get a 360 for while after it came out and i was so excited for Halo 3, that was until I got it, Campaign wise I loved it, but when it came to multiplayer it was missing something, some form of element that made Halo 2 amazing. I was disapointed.

Now Reach I feel has some of that element, it brought back some amount of fun back to the multiplayer but lets be honest, it really does have nothing on Halo 2.

I think that 343 will continue the story of Master Chief, fail miserably, and then make Halo 1 remake in HD (which wud be teh awesome.) If that doesn't suck they might even make a H2 remake (more awesomeness.)

Name's John. I'm a 21-year-old firefighter/EMT from lolhio who doubles as a die-hard Halo fan. I've been enjoying the franchise since 2001. My favorite iteration of Halo would have to be Halo 2 simply because I never got to experience the joy of a full-on Halo: CE LAN.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

Oh yeah, and boot Zome.

That is, if they don't utilize the same gameplay as in Reach.

Yeah, Hitboxing = fail. For example, a certan user from the maw who has never played Halo 2 Xbox online links to this halo 2 bash video (its much less exreme in acutial gameplay) which shows hitboxing, but it also exists in halo 3, which also has unbalanced weps and n00b armor (recon).

Which they undoubtedly will since all games today seem to have to have the exact same gameplay.

50 in H2/H3? Great, but you still fail at this.

Super Cool Story Bro.
If you want h2 that bad, PC port or even better just get Halo PC.

Well it still promotes racism so it's not all bad.

CE remake means a lot for 343, if they make it right, I will have TOTAL faith in them for Halo 4...

This is going to sound crazy, but hang in with me; this makes me think of Halo like the invention of the toaster. The first toaster - a revolution. No more putting bread in the oven, struggling to get it right. The second toaster - even better, more options, better design. After that...it's just a toaster. We all know how it works and it always does the same thing. I think that's where we're at with H-3 and Reach. Better toaster than ever, but, we're all used to it. Nothing new, and plenty of room for criticizing about how we're not wowed...as with the first and second versions. Of toasters.

Halo 2 still had things missing. It didn't have the armor selection that tied into the books and backstory. It didn't have the theater mode or Forge. If they had simply kept the gameplay intact from 2 to 3, and added these features, Halo 3 would be unstoppable, and it would have taken almost no effort to do so, simply a few cosmetic additions.
