Almost every thread I go to H2 is talked about as the standard for halo games.

CE is seen as the best campaign
Halo2 best MP.
After that...

I couldn't agree more. What microsoft did to Halo 2, which literally paved the way for online gaming is downright blasphemy.
It almost makes me want to switch careers to software development, climb up the MS hierarchy and campaign for the rebirth of H2 online.

I don't have a nostalgic point of view. Halo 2 was actually just that great.

I agree with you that it is a big loss, but you're acting like MS is picking on Halo 2 alone. They shut down the whole original Live service to improve the present one, not to piss off the Halo community.

I'm sure they saw the flames coming; as soon as they announced that they were taking down the original Live service they also handed out tons of free gifts to Halo 2 players: something they didn't give to the online communities of other games that got shut down.

I'm not saying that I agree with what MS did, I would love to play more Halo 2 Matchmaking, but I think you should turn down the flame cannon just a little bit.

Halo 2 for Life!

You talk like an undercover Ninja trying to diffuse a bomb that doesn't exist.

I understand they attempted to compensate H2 players, which was close to nothing compared to the loss of H2 on XBL.

I also understand it was not signaled out for shutting down but the entire service for old games was shut down, which made the situation even more ludicrous. H2 should have been singled out as a game to be "transferred" by whatever means, to the "New" XBL.

Microsoft is an excuse machine, anything to save them money and you are attempting to perpetuate this lack of understanding on their part shows lack of a good well formulated point on your part.

Not to sound rude to you I'm sure you have firm knowledge of the situation but that doesn't mean you should say what they say in different words but no self explanation. Formulate your own response with your own ideas and not others with different words.

Really? what gifts? I played Halo2 for 8 months strait without playing any other game and without changing my GT. I still have my Halo2 service record and I always plan to!

I just don't understand why its offline. I could understand them doing for a month or so to upgrade it for the 360's version of live, but taking it down forever is ridiculous. Especially when there are dozens of Xbox 360 games that consistently have ZERO players on Xbox Live.

If you enjoy playing CoD4, Modern Warfare 2, Black Ops, Gears of War, Halo 3 or Halo Reach I guess you should play them now since Micro$oft will probably take the 360 offline in a few years.

I think they gave out the "gifts" to people who were still active. The gift was an email that added 3 months to your XBL gold subscription and 400 microsoft points.

Huh? That was my opinion on the subject, Microsoft wasn't bribing me or anything like your implying. I don't think I made it clear the purpose of my previous post: I think it's fine that your flaming them, but I think you should flame them for more reasons than they are just trying to rob their fanbase, or they're playing the money game. I've heard those reasons many of times and I wish for more originality.

Anyway, you bring up a good point on transferring the game from the old service to the 360's live. But, it's not certain if that's possible: networking sucks. Either that or it was too much work for MS so they didn't take the risk like you suggested.

Halo 2 for Life!

I was critiquing them and you just said fluff...
Lines they give their employees to say, you said with pride.
Weak at best your words let down the conversation were having.

Basically I'm just saying that you're a programmed robot ready to defend strongly and critique weakly those in charge of making the decisions for the halo franchise.

Those that should be in charge of these decisions should be the people and the only way the people can have these powers is by showing we desire strongly H2 back.

I have no need to have a personal conversation with you so I won't. I enjoy Halo2 and I will talk about Halo2 here with those willing to talk about it constructively, nothing more (I'm not here for your personal support, and will not respond to personal attacks).

You know what, I AM a robot. And I make amazing fluff But your post just made me feel like this. You being the spartan and me being, well you know, the robot.

Look man, I never flamed you or anything so I'm not sure what you're getting worked up about. I repeated what MS had to say on the subject to make sure everyone was on the same page as to why Halo 2 is offline. I don't respect you calling me MS's busboy for doing that: I personally hate them for their -blam!- 360 hardware. I find it amazing that my 8 year old PS2 still works perfectly but my 360 breaks down every 4 months.

I guess what I'm trying to express is that I support your cause against Microsoft's ability to not support their games, but I didn't understand what you were truly saying because of your bias poll, so I posted what MS said (or their excuse as you said) to try and clear things up.

But now I understand the purpose, the core meaning, of your thread so rock on, dude.

50 in H2/H3? Great, but you still fail at this.

Halo 2, IMO, is overrated.

While I do agree, it is still by far the best multiplayer Halo.

Why does everyone hate Halo 2? Maybe its because its the worst game ever next to mario.

It's true that Halo CE had the best campaign and Halo 2 had the best multiplayer. As for the other Halo games... well... they aren't even close to being what those two games were.

Halo 2 for Life!

Your friends with this moderator lol.

Talking to Havoc now... Of course I'm bias everyone has a bias....

I understand you have a lot of knowledge on the subject, I just smelled a moderator trying to poison good conversation about getting H2 back. I wasn't talking about the goods of Microsoft and Bungie, you brought up strong points but ones I've only seen moderators use...

Thx for commenting though I have no problems with having a conversation, just wish your points were better developed. They are developed in certain ways but in others they lack...

Yeah, H2 was a stress reliever for me when I came home and now I've had to go back to sports games and RPG's as no other FPS is any good to me.

One of the best games in history and Microsoft or Bungie can't find a server for it disappoints me and so many others. I hope our conversations on these forums can only quicken the process of getting the best game in history back on Live again.

Grumpy don't try to prevent conversation. Critiquing each others points or words, or statements is harsh to some but it's a good way to develop those points. As long as they are old enough to know I'm not trying to attack them than they should be fine to take criticisms of their points (I'm not attacking them but their words, etc) and if their not than it's their deal. Not everything in life is rosy and tastes like candy.
