There are devices to capture TV video signals for display on a computer screen. Any kit that will allow your computer to burn DVDs from your VHS tapes should work.

I am not up on the current prices; but just off the top of my head, I think I saw a video capture kit at Fryes Electronics, Renton, WA, USA, recently, for somewhere near $200. I think the conversion hardware was external. If all you needed was the conversion hardware, you can probably get it for under $100.

If you have a Fryes store near you, go to the computer section and tell them what you want to do. I am sure they can show you something that will do the job on a desktop, and likely also for laptop.

I have a composite video in, and s-video in connected to my video card, which is a Radeon 9800 All In Wonder Pro. I just hook my xbox into that when I want to play on my computer screen. I've seen inputs on some laptop cards, but I wouldn't know if yours had it...

I don't know any other ways to go about this, but I am not too knowledgeable on this topic...
