Lekgolo (According to "Contact Harvest" and Halopedia) are the small worm-like creatures that make up the Mgalekgolo. Individually these "Worms" are primitive, unintelligent creatures, however joining into large colonies of Lekgolo they become a "Hive Mind."

My question here is, if a Mgalekgolo is capable of forming sentient thought, are they able to be killed by the blast of the Halo Array. And if they know the Array is about to fire, can they detach from eachother back into their primitive Lekgolo form to save themselves from the blast?

That is actually quite a good thought... Let's form a paradox, the individual worms want to join so they can 'survive' from bigger things better being what with being simple minded, but the hive mind decides to split to 'survive' better being clever. What happens?

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

They are immune to the flood so I asume if they seperate they can escape the firing of the rings...

Then they re-unite again after the shockwave passes...

The scientific understanding of "sentient life" includes criteria that the life must have a sense of self-awareness and a concept of past, present and future. Life is ever-changing, however, and a life form that's considered non-sentient may progress to a state of sentient life in the future.

Interesting. I suppose Bungie is the only one who can give us an answer. But if they could disassemble themselves to survive Halo, then the smart thing to do would be to activate it. The Lekgolo would survive, and immediatly form sentient Mgalekgolo. There would be no competition from other species but the flood. The flood would not be a threat because the activation of Halo will starve them (they can't consume Hunters). The Hunters would rule the entire galaxy.

Wake me when the jews are gone.

how would they know if the Halo is activated

The Mgalekgolo/Lekgolo itself is uninteresting as a _parasite host_, aka combat form, because of its lack of calcium, but are still attractive like every other life forms because they can be used as biomass. Why do you think there's no Hunter corpses when you visit the infected High Charity?

It's a metaphor for the 07s' lack of identity. too old to be newfag, yet too new to be oldfag, we wander b.net in search of a home, forever trying to be something we are not.

This thread Snakie made a while back has some good discussion about what exactly The Array does, and how it kills things.

Aye, at least a few have kept the memory of what discoveries I've made alive whilst I've been absent.

"Sentience", as I theorize it, isn't a level that they map tediously, it's merely a term for anything with a semi-advanced nervous system. If you've got neurons (and worms as we know them have ganglia, which could be considered neuron clusters), you're toast.

It's been a while since there has been a good thread round these parts.

Thank you everyone for the feedback. This thought pondered in my head for a long time before i decided to ask you. Lord Snakie, your infinite wells of knowledge are crucial to the answering of many questions. Thankyou, and Happy Holidays good sirs
