Does Taratus count? Because he would kick the Elite's ass....73 times!

then its taratus vs arby XD who wins... wait, dint this happen before?

Yep, with the help of the most skilled elites at that time. One on One, Tartersauce wins. One on A -blam!- load, well, we saw that.

Both are pushovers. But put realism, the jiralhanae would terror him apart if they got close, but the sangheili would likely blast him first. It all depends.
Jiralhanae with Hammer versus General with Sword. General wins. General with any weapon will probably win.

In hand to hand, the Jiralhanae wins, being stronger and their joints having a wider range of motion than a Sangheili's (they can be bent further back without snapping).

You can't go by how the game works, a hammer has further reach and a blast radius.

I chose war Chieftain only because I got killed so much by them in 3 (INVINCIBILITY!

War Chieftains don't have invincibility. But they could if they wanted.

-blam!- Was that actually blammed out? Or did I just type it? You'll never know.

First, it's not Brute or Elite vs The Player, it's War Chieftain against General.
Second, Elite Generals are faster than Spartan IIIs. We don't know if they're faster than Spartan II's. And although Brute Chieftains are slower than Spartan II's, they may be faster than Spartan IIIs. So your argument is based on assumed information.

A brute would rush in, swinging his hammer like there's no tomorrow. He has to ideally connect to do any damage, the AoE will do minimal damage, but may stun his target.

The General will take his time and use his swordsmanship skills to kill the Chieftain.

I wasn't going by games anyway, that is gleaned from the books.

Umm, it's kinda hard to miss a golden, sword weilding monster. So unless brutes have bad eyesight(They don't), he wins. Only at range and stealth can a Healthy General take on a healthy Chieftain(Unless he's -blam!- retarded).

As proved by Legends, a hammer can be blocked mid-swing by grasping the hammer shaft. An energy sword cannot, whatever the Reach mechanics say otherwise.

I'm going by realism, not gameplay. The brutes hammer is caught, he catches the sword, or drops hammer, bites into elite, or pulls out knife, or if like maccebus(he's powerful) or Tartarus(stronger) he punches and kills the elite outright, even if there's shields(And it's likely, because shields are damaged no matter where hit in canon, they'd be drained from the force of the blow).

And only the basics of what happened in Legends is canon, not appearance or every little bit. But yea, you could grab a hammer coming at you, but even an elite would break it's arm (A SPARTAN wouldn't because there bones are virtually indestructible). Why would it break it's arm? If a few kids in elementary school can swing near a hundred miles per hour, a brute can swing, maybe 200 to 500 miles per hour(That's purely guess work). It would crunch any elites bone, maybe stun a SPARTANs.

So: Close quarters, elite would die most of the time in reality.

Long Range: Most of the time, brute asplodes.

Although I wish it weren't true, Arby wouldn't have won if it weren't for the unlimited supply of Zealots and Councilors, and Johnson taking down Tartus's shields.

The Elite. Reason? Go play Halo 3 and throw a fire grenade at a Brute chieftain. And canonically Elites are smarter and more skillful, ergo, Elite wins.
