Bow Chicka Bow Wow

It seams like the UNSC would have thought of having things on Earth or any other colony like battleships or carriers or things of that nature? I can see where they would be crucial in defending Reach or Earth. Will someone please clear this up for me.

We are all going to get banned aren't we?

ehh even though i know they have "wet" navy, i doubt they would have alot of it seeing how their isn't much use. plus it would only be effective vs fighters.

It's the only way to control enermy transport over the sea's inbetween inportant land masses. Witch would be key in controlling enermy movement :)

My Screenshots / My Group / Remember to follow the rules or you will get trapped in a box.

I mean they have them but they just don't use them because the Covenant don't use anything naval.

True, but it could also be used to bombard certain locations when the ships above could not respond in time or were engaged in a battle, although; it wouldn't have the effect it does now, but if you put a mac cannon or large artillery cannon on it I can see where it would be effective and we can't forget the fact that we could launch missiles off of it like the ones six had to activate.

Blue-Delta: "Dragon X-ray, it looks like all I've got available at this time is the UNSC Aegis Fate."

Dragon X-ray: "Blue Delta, is the Aegis Fate 'wet Navy'?"

Blue-Delta: "Negative, Dragon. She's currently listed as an exo-asset; a frigate."

Dragon X-ray: "Whoa! We are less than a klick from the target area, Blue Delta. We ain't that desperate for help."

Blue-Delta: "Understood, Dragon X-ray. Give 'em hell out there, and good luck." [/quote]

I know what you ment by "wet" navy... I was saying why it is usefull :P Not to really fight... but to be annoying XD

I'm sure they use wet ships too, but they're likely hidden in the background of the fight. Like in the second Transformers film where they target the huge robot and blast him with some futuristic cannon stationaired on a battleship.

(\.(\

it would be pretty pointless unless they were heavy hitting and could sit deep deep under water away from where the covenant would care to enter, ships are large and slow and extremely easy targets for a quick moving agile cruiser.

wow i forgot till just now, in halo 3 on longshore you can see 'wet' navy aircraft carriers.

Bow Chicka Bow Wow

So from what I get from this "wet" navy means active and able to support not actually wet as in "in the water" because the Agis Fate (sp)? is the frigate on the map "Sandtrap" Therefore unless it's in the books the UNSC never mentions or even has a water navy.

I like the Mk V armor.

They do. Play Longshore. It's just when faced with a spaceship, they're grounded.

Win.

Even during the battle of Reach, 'wet' Navy vessels were deployed on Reach's seas, it's referenced in one of the Radio Conversations.

Halo 3's Longshore map also had Ocean-faring Aircraft Carriers around the bay as scenery.

The only main-stream navy used by the UNSC (space) might accidently kill all UNSC ground forces in the process (MACs sare--what--62 kilotons?)

71.

But it's not like a nuke. Nukes affect a wide area, a MAC would affect a highly focused area, and generate a deep deep crater.

-blam!- Was that actually blammed out? Or did I just type it? You'll never know.

Orbital bombardment made Naval bombardment obsolete.

But the point is... boats would be annoying for the covy :) they just want to fly between countries... not get shot from below by some tinny hunk of metal :)

Don't worry, you're still your mom's favorite Bnet member.

The UNSC had naval ships. I just don't see how effective they'd be against Covenant fighters.

  • 12.24.2010 3:19 PM PDT

I've always wondered why due in the age where 485m Warships can go into atmosphere why would there be the need for a "wet" navy. If the frigates with MAC cannons are expensive why not just make a huge gunship ala the Dragon gunship in Avatar (you know the film that released last year?) and chuck Guass cannons and missle launchers for some serious firepower.

EDIT: Or the Vulture in Halo Wars for example, just make that bigger and wola!.

Learn to accept people interest.

Because of the cost. Look at the cost of building on of those ship and reparing. That and those ships need to be used to fight the covenant in space

it'd be like an asteroid impact; it'd effect a wide area (but without all the pretty glowing orange that is a nuclear mushroom cloud; just a massive 'splosion of dust and rock, and then a giant crater.)

Wet navy could potentially be very useful.

Freeing up "Exo-assets",
Providing intermediate support for troops (Larger than 50mm railguns, smaller than full-sized MAC,
Providing Intra-atmosphere air defense and no-fly-zone coverage,
At a guess I'd say they could travel at 200kph plus, meaning they could carry aircraft/high-ranking officials between land masses, under the water minimising the effect of covenant attacks.

As to why they don't. It's just never fit into a storyline.

Surrender? I've never heard of such. Defeat? Not a possibility! Why...why I will fight and fight and fight, until I am victorious, or I am dead? Because that is who I am, and that is why I fight; everyone will see that, when I am proclaimed greatest among men.
