Why is this still going on?

It's Christmas. Eat a ham, turkey, duck, chicken, turducken, steak, lobster, crab, fishes, etc...... or not.

Merry Christmas.

I do not fear death, in view of the fact that I had been dead for billions and billions of years before I was born, and had not suffered the slightest inconvenience from it. ~ Mark Twain

Watch the video, I think it's worse than the Holocaust.

Humans are evil, but animals are just animals, they aren't either, making it worse what people do to animals.

Why else were animals put on Earth?

Unless they can actually help us other than being food or guarding our house, tell me.

We kill them fast and painlessly.
Ummmmm...NO. Animals in the meat industry are treated savagely until the day of slaughter which sometimes can be extremely painful for the animal. What we need to do is stop eating so much meat. You don't want to completely remove it from your diet as our bodies need meat. If Americans didn't feel like they needed half out their plate covered in meat and a small portion in veggies things wouldn't be so bad on the animals.
I agree that the treatment of animals in slaughterhouses is sometimes inhumane, but that doesn't mean we should stop eating meat. I think what he meant was the death of the animal is painless, which it is, all they do is hang them up and slit their throat.

Watch the video.

I didn't want to link it, but I think people just didn't understand what is done to the animals.

Who cares what's done to them. By the time they get to my table they are long dead, and long put out off this so-called torture.

They are yum. End of discussion.

I'm ok with that.

What about the people with no houses, the people out there being tortured? Does no on care about them anymore?

The difference is that people generally are trying to help them, or at least they believe they should be helped. There is awareness of these things, but not of this issue.

Just because there is an issue with animals, doesn't mean it's the only issue or the most important issue, it's just another issue.

As Morrissey once said: "nobody can come up with a good argument for eating animals - nobody can. People as some kind of a joke say, well, 'It's tasty', but it's only tasty once you garnish it and you put salt and pepper, and you cook it, and you have to do 300 things to it to disguise its true taste. If you put garnishes on a chair or fabric, it would probably taste quite nice."

Animals who die for your dinner table die alone, in terror, in sadness and in pain. The killing is merciless and inhumane.

There is absolutely no reason why we should eat meat from an evolutionary or 'natural' perspective either. Our bodies are not designed to.

Just, how do I stop, I suppose you could say I'm addicted.

to the quote: Actually, meat, in my opinion, can still taste good even without seasonings. People can say the same thing about vegetables that you did as many hate vegetables unless cooked a certain way with seasonings. I challenge anyone to make a tasty chair by seasoning it.

to you: The killing aspect isn't necessarily totally true, and if parts of it are true, then that is the fault of the farmers and meat producers.
The whole natural part: That's BS, if you notice, we have the same sort of teeth typical of omnivores (meaning eating meat and plants), and if you actually look at some of the physiological processes of our bodies, you would see our bodies are designed to be capable of consuming protein-rich meat

People who don't eat meat generally die around 50?

I blame poor chefs and poor cooks who can't prepare meat giving vegetarians/vegans a bad taste of meat.

Vegetarian diets have been proven to be healthier than non-veggie diets.

Proven, due to all the diseases (heart disease etc) that have been linked to meat eating.

What the OP is trying to say is we don't require the consumption of meat anymore. We have ways around it.

And I'm not gonna lie, that is a hard topic to debate.

Do I agree with him? No, I enjoy meat.

Am I against him? No, my ex is a vegan and so is my Aunt. I respect other people's decisions, just please don't cram it down another human's throat.

I like the pun. I understand freedom of choice, and I wouldn't 'preach' to people in real life, but since it's a forum, this is one of the only places I find this type of thing acceptable to convince people. It's what forums are about.

Sort of this. I don't really like them if it's because of animal torture, but if they get in my face I'll kill them.

So? We eat meat. Are you saying that the animals being eaten by bears and lions aren't being tortured? They are, but you can't stop it, and you can't stop the meat industry.

Yes it is inhumane, but us humans are omnivores.

We have the choice not to be omnivores. And you compare what happens in nature when a lion kills a zebra to what we do to cows.

It does not compare, not at all, not matter how subjective you all pretend it is.
