Really, if an animal is not capable of metacognition and self-awareness, there is no difference between the animal and a plant and a rock.

And you know with complete and absolute certainty that animals don't 'think'?

Either way, it's still a living, breathing, 'intelligent' creature with a personality.

Pigs are just as intelligent as dogs, but I bet you wouldn't eat your own dog...

That's to do with our society, if things were a little different then I'm sure people would eat dogs. Dogs, I would imagine, are harder to harvest than pigs and are thus less profitable which in turn means farmers don't farm them and therefore we don't eat them.

Besides, pig probably tastes nicer than dog.
Dog is eaten in China.

Animals who die for your dinner table die alone, in terror, in sadness and in pain. The killing is merciless and inhumane.

There is absolutely no reason why we should eat meat from an evolutionary or 'natural' perspective either. Our bodies are not designed to.

Just, how do I stop, I suppose you could say I'm addicted.

this statement is completely false. Ya know how they kill large animals? the have a gun. The gun ejects a big bolt out of it that quickly goes into the large animal's head, killing it instantly. You know how they kill birds? They chop their heads off. Bam. Dead. Instant. both cases. Animals cannot feel sadness. Sadness is a trait only humans know. Nature is merciless. Why should we stoop lower to try to appeal to the fake desires we think animals feel? Animals think 2 things. "i need to keep myself alive" and "i need to have smex to produce offspring"

No, you do not need to garnish up meat to make it taste good. One, i hunt animals, and i eat them. I barely put anything on it and it tastes good. It is human nature to eat meat, and for all of our existence we have, yet right now you idiotic animal rights activists think since we can eat vegetables we can live off them? Wrong. Why do you think vegetarians need to take nutritional supplements to keep themselves healthy? Because they don't get them from the meat we need to eat.

Stupid hippie. You go on with your idiotic way of thinking and ill go on with mine. We have canine teeth for a reason. Now im going to use mine to eat a nice prime rib. Have fun sucking on a stick of celery.

Because your canine teeth and incisors were built around chewing plants.

I'm having steak tonight. Gonna be tasty.

Meat-eaters: have sharp front teeth for tearing, with no flat molar teeth for grinding
Herbivores: no sharp front teeth, but flat rear molars for grinding

Meat-eaters: have intestinal tract that is only 3 times their body length so that rapidly decaying meat can pass through quickly
Herbivores: have intestinal tract 10-12 times their body length.

Meat-eaters: have strong hydrochloric acid in stomach to digest meat
Herbivores: have stomach acid that is 20 times weaker than that of a meat-eater
Humans: have stomach acid that is 20 times weaker than that of a meat-eater

Meat-eaters: salivary glands in mouth not needed to pre-digest grains and fruits.
Herbivores: well-developed salivary glands which are necessary to pre-digest grains and fruits

No, our teeth are not designed for eating meat, they can barely chew through cooked meat, and if we were carnivorous, they should be able to tear through it raw, with ease, like other carnivores.

My cat kills and eats squirrels, birds and rabbits. But you probably wouldn't mind if he does it.

I wouldn't say I'd like it, but he's probably following insticts. He doesn't know any better.

We have canine teeth. CANINE!!! Teeth meant to tear apart meat. Look at a horse or anyother vegetarian animal, no canine teeth. Animals that eat meat or both meat/plants have CANINE teeth.

CANINE TEETH. We are meant to eat. meat.

Actual Fact: Eating meat, and thus gaining the protein strain needed to develop dexterity and brain matter and centers made your ancestors more capable of critical thought. Its because your ancestors ate meat that you're cognate enough to question the morality of eating meat.

Actual Fact: Vegans have, on average, higher IQ levels than those who eat meat.
Source? How many people were tested with this? A lot of people would be necessitated, in order for it to be accurate. A lot.

I like how everone jumps on my fact for a source and not his.

There's no reason for us to kill newborn childs, as it's not in our nature to be cannibals.

No they don't. Pull more statistics out of your ass while you then continue to not refute my actual points. Diet has no bearing on IQ provided the diet supplies the appropriate amount of nutrients and protein. There are millions of other factors that go into determining environmental intelligence.

Its militaristic buffoons like you who give veggies a bad name. Come off yourself, and learn to accept other people even thought hey might disagree with you.

I just posted a link with a source.

Oh, I apologize for empathizing with living beings outside of my own species. I don't like the unnecessarily barbaric practice of slaughter and consumption for personal greed.

I read the article you linked, and it was VERY vague. Intelligence is not a by product of your diet, like I said, unless your diet is not giving you the things you need to function. Its more inherent and environmental than that. You've utterly failed to back up you inane nonsense and even refute one of my points.

Also, you're not empathizing with animals. You're being judgmental and snooty. you're just using this as an excuse to prove to the world how great and noble you are. This is an ego trip, that only you and those who are on the same type of ego trip could justify and applaud. You take narcissism and turn it into an art form. You lack the perspicacity to see that about yourself however, so I'm sure I'm in for another "shut up you murder" reply from you.

Prove me right.

We are Omnivores.

But if you re-read the list, we are consistent with the characteristics of herbivores and not carnivores.

We are omnivores because we eat meat, not because we are designed to eat meat.

IT IS UNNATURAL to eat meat.

We are. We're omnivores. We have digestive systems capable of handling both meat and vegetation without specialising in one or the other.

If we were meant to be strictly herbivores, we would be able to get all the nutrition we need from grazing. Guess what? We can't.

This... and do you think we were designed just to eat plants,do you know they are living organisms too?

If it's not in our "nature" to eat animals then there must be a certain point in history in which humans started going against their "nature?" And I'm sure you can point this out for me, of course?
