Ok. I just got bought Halo for PC. Installed it and the game works wonders. Multiplayer however, will not connect to any servers. My computer is on a wireless network in my house. I have port forwarded ports, 80, 2302, 2303. I have all the necessary updates. I have no idea what else to do.

I"ll click on a game to join, and it'll say "Connecting to (ip address)" as usual. then it'll come up saying "Retrying (1)" then all the way to 5. It will never connect to a game.

Please help. I have not played a online game in Halo and that is the only reason why I bought it. I have yet to play one game in the last 5 days I've had it. Please help me.

Make sure you try all of them, evry single one, evry day to make sure theyre not all home servers cause they do that sometimes. Only click on dedicated servers to be sure.

HALO and wireless sometimes DO NOT work.

Just wire it to the router and try it that way if it works then that is the problem and if you could list the make and modle of the router and NIC it might aid in assistance. is it B,G or N.

Yes but I have wireless and it works fine. Still it might be your model; it would be a good idea to tell us what it is.

So do I, and it works fine. It might be a little laggy depending where in the house I am, but that doesn't interfere w/ server joining.

Ok. I just bought a 25 foot ethernet cable and now my computer is directly connected to the router and the piece of crap still doesn't work.

Did you check the obvious in-game settings? You'd be suprised how even pros forget to do this: checked for game filters in the lobby.

Yep checked them. Firewall is off. I'm connected directly to the router and I disabled my wireless card so it has to go through the ethernet cable.

My ISP is emptychair.net

I have Norton Antivirus Firewall (which is off) and Halo is set as an exception in the Exceptions list. Yeah, the autoupdate for Halo runs everytime I click Halo, I have version 1.07 installed now.

Also the AR is actually good in CQB now and no longer a glorified baseball bat.

Do you also have an antivirus running? Sometimes Norton Antivirus gives me problems with games and Xfire, so it might be that.
Also, have you done a spyware scan and virus scan? You probably don't have a virus, but you probably have at least tracking spyware. If you have more serious spyware then that might be stopping it.
Also, have you tried reinstalling? There might have been a problem with the game files when you installed.
Also, have you checked any multiplayer settings to see if there are any options about connection?(I don't know if there are since I had no problems)

OK here are a few things that have worked in the past for me:

1) Make sure you are port forwarding 2302 and 2303 on UDP not TCP
2) Port forward port 5632 - UDP (this is the gamespy server port)
3) Make sure UPnP is switched off on your router

Oh, I just thought I'd point out that they are the things that I did that enabled me to host a game but I thought they would be worth a try for client aswell.

Try these steps to get the multiplayer set up through Windows Firewall. That could be your problem.
