After replaying Halo: CE, I find myself asking two questions.

1) How could the Chief and Cortana be so ignorant to the importance of Halo

2) If Cortana has all of the information of Installation 004, wouldn't she come across some intel on the others?

3) Why destroy Halo in the first place? Wouln't it be more reasonable to just take the index?

4) The installations can only be activated by a Human, or a Forerunner, correct? How did Cortana not come across this in the data contained in Installation 004's control room?

5) LOL How is Johnson everywhere???

Why would they not be ignorant of it until finding the data in the control room?

2) If Cortana has all of the information of Installation 004, wouldn't she come across some intel on the others?
Why would information on the other rings be kept on each ring? You would think the Forerunner would want to keep that data compartmentalized.

3) Why destroy Halo in the first place? Wouln't it be more reasonable to just take the index?
-Cortana stated that she wanted to rule out the possibility that Spark might figure out some way to activate the ring without the index.
-The flood needed to be dealt with, and they didn't want to use the ring's firing mechanisms to accomplish that, so they had only one option: destroy the hula-hoop.

4) The installations can only be activated by a Human, or a Forerunner, correct? How did Cortana not come across this in the data contained in Installation 004's control room?
That data might not be available in the core itself; such user-checking may operate on a separated, secure system. A building with an extensive electronic security system might still be protected by a redundant level of mechanical locks.

5) LOL How is Johnson everywhere???

He isn't. In almost all places, he's a stock character, just like almost all the marines (the only real non-stock marine is Mendoza, since he's actually named in-game). The only canonical presentation of him IIRC is in the 343GS cutscene. In Halo CE, the only place where the name "Johnson" even comes up is in the credits, and a whole bunch of other nonsense marine names popped up there. He wasn't really canonized as "Johnson" (whose only real HCE appearance IIRC is in the 343GS cutscene) until later media.

So yeah, basically, that Johnson dude that you see everywhere isn't "Johnson", just a stock sarge. In Halo CE, I still refer to the Johnson sarges as just "sarge" much of the time, since that's basically who he was in HCE.
