i dont trust places like halopedia or anything like that but what the the status of this short:
cannon - non-cannon

im sure its been discussed before

but my particular questions are;

how did they know what a prophet looked like, they had data on one and where it was and were able to track him, but in the books, as the MC was gearing up for the prophet capture mission that turned in to halo 1, they knew nothing about the prophets. . .

so does this take place sometime between halo 1 and 3?
and if so who is this spartan
is she canon?

for that matter, are any of the new Spartans introduced in the other shorts canon?

inb4 "bungie doesn't care about cannon - look at halo reach"
GTFO my Internets already

and i know this cant really be answered but what is with the striking similarities between the structures in "babysitter" and ancient Chinese architecture. way too similar to be coincidence; whats the best theory you've heard; or your own for that matter

Well it might just be the fact that he came off the ship in a gravity chair, a crowish looking head dress and was the only one of his species there so he might have been easy to spot.

But a lot of things in the Episode are messed up so don't worry about it.

hadn't thought of the context clues. i guess the armed guards were a dead give away.

i was truly hoping to know if its canon though, its a great story, as are all these shorts [just got the DVD for Xmas] and they add a lot to the halo universe. but if some of these are not cannon i will be disappointed.

i know spartan 1337 isnt, but the arbiter story was great. and the cgi halsey rescue too. although that had some holes in it.

i think im just going to ignore the breaks in cannon for theses and take them as they are. ignoring the holes they create and the illogical time frame they take place in

Soon to be breaking news:

US Coast Guard prepares for massive rescue mission after Iranian fleet sinks off shore. Reports say a small thunderstorm caused most of the ships to simply...fall apart.

Odd One Out (Spartan 1337) is the only short that is non-canon.

You should, they all have hole in them.

There were a few in the Babysitter like how a Spartan sacrifices her life for a dumb ODST.

  • 12.25.2010 10:04 PM PDT

so then do i ignore the holes the other ones created?

john wearing mk6 while halsey is still young and vibrant?
in the games he gets mk6 after halo 1 and in halo reach halsey is old and gray . . .
just for starters

There were a few in the Babysitter like how a Spartan sacrifices her life for a dumb ODST.i can see that happening though, simple human compassion. she has saved his behind several times; she seems dedicated to the mission and has probably lost far too many fellow soldiers along her journeys. wanting to change this and thinking she might be able to take the blow from the chieftain she dove in and protected him.

though i do like the idea of just ignoring all the flaws.

Pvt. Schoonover, going to have a jolly good time at 'Summer Camp' this year. Yeah it's basic training for the army..

tapeworm rage's "Way of the Ninja"

Well, he looked like the most popular guy at the party. I'd shoot his brains out.

That's because the chance is very high those buildings are of human origin, in case you didn't knew humanity had a galactic empire over 100.000 years ago, we pissed of the Forerunners and they kicked us back to the stone age.

They've previewed the first two chapters of Halo: Cryptum (the book about the Forerunners) up somewhere around Halo Waypoint. If you read these chapters, you'll find that apparently before the Flood invasion, we were a space-faring empire, but the Forerunners deemed us too violent of a species, defeated us in war, devolved us and sent us back to Earth. From the looks of things so far, the Forerunners really don't like us before the Flood invade.

To sum it up, the Halo universe just got flip-turned upside-down, so just take a minute and sit right there, and I'll tell you how I became the Fresh Price of Bel Air.

Not only does that incredibly dissapoint me, but it enrages me as well.

I'm not buying that book anymore.

Inside another dead body. It's the last place they'll look
A corpse within a corpse.
CORPSEPTION.
Win.

TFOR, both the original and its reprint, are in some sort of Canon Purgatory.

They live in some state of being between canon and non-canon at times - having never seen Prophets, Elites or Hunters before 2552 should be immediately removed as being canon.
The original TFOR was written in 7 weeks by Nylund, which is an incredibly short timescale for writing an entire book from scratch.
Nylund came up with the story based on one line from CE's opening: "As for tracking us all the way from Reach?"

As such, it was made before any other pre-trilogy material was made or even considered, which is why it says that.

Slightly more OT: All of Legends is canon, with the exception of Odd One Out, being a spoof.

What's wrong with a human-forerunner war?

The first chapters are amazing and added many new tons of info the the halo verse
