Subject: Newsflash. Idea that could of helped the UNSC.

Remove the monetary system. The Covies don't use it, neither should we.

I think your life is more valuable than worthless paper and credits.

No monetary system = Thousands of UNSC Warships, MAC platforms, Spartans, Advanced Tech, and Weapons

You have 800+ worlds, I think the resources are pretty bountiful, plus the captured Covie Tech and Halos.

Perhaps this could of helped a little when the UNSC and ONI realized they were a little outmatched by the Covenant.

Message me if you want, I will try to get back as soon as possible.

See you on the forums and in the games.

Capitalism is a hard idea to get rid of. Telling billions of citizens you will work for nothing would probably result in even more insurrection. You'd be surprised how much people love money over protection from government (tax evasion, anti-war people, etc.)

It would of been for the duration of the emergency. If you want to leave, fine, I'm on the side with the millions of warships, not the rebels living off scratch.

In short, the Insurrectionists wouldn't of stood a chance against the Covenant, and would of relied on the UNSC for protection.

The insurrectionists tried to hide from the Covenant to begin with, they knew they didn't stand a chance. Like I said earlier, when people's money is threatened they get mad. And having mad citizens is not a good way to win a war.

Maybe you could get millions of scared civilians to stop uaing money, but you can't get the big corporations that supply the UNSC to stop wanting payment for their work. The UNSC does not build all of it's own vehicles, or mine all of it's resources.

Plus, the Covenant probably never had a monetary system, so it is a lot easier for them to do things without money. The Covenant doesn't rely on big companies to supply them (and if they do, the company is probably the property of the Covenant, not a third party)

I am a monument to all your sins

no money=no incentive to work. the Covys have religion as their incentive, the UNSC would just slack off if they had nothing to gain form working

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

I always think this when I play halo wars....

I am th prohphet of Regret and I want to build a scarab but the herilock price is $3000... :(

The covenant accept following their leaders rather than monetary gain...

"Question. Which Spartan is best?"
"That's a ridiculous question."
"False. Master Chief."
"Well, that's debatable. There are basically two schools of thought."
"Spartans shoot Sangheili. Spartans. Sangheili.....Battle Star Galactica."

Covenant = Communist

Covie...Commi..

OH BOY! They kind of sound the same, don't they?

Capitalism > Communism.

The story of Halo is obviously a take on Capitalism defeating Communism.

They are not communists, you could compare them to communists but their government is nothing more than Upper Class tyranny based on controlling the lower classes with religion. But the reason why it worked so well is their religion is based on observable fact, it's just that the detail of the observable fact is only pursued by the upper class. The grunts, brutes, and for the most part elites don't really bother looking at the facts themselves, and trust that what the prophets find is the absolute truth.

The jackals of course being the only monetary trade like system within the Covenant, because they act like mercenaries. They trade with the covenant and work for them while still being apart of the covenant. As for the worms that form hunters, well, not too much is known about them other than they have a connection with forerunner objects just like the prophets and elites had. Just that they ate away the dirt and rock surrounding the forerunner objects, and never really could eat away the forerunner objects.

Drones, well, they are just drones. Engineers down to the core working for the hive, which was just expanded into a multiple species hive.

The story of Halo is a fight against corruption. A fight against ignorance.

Communism? I prefer fascism.

So that's how it is. You all ought to know better than that.

Declare a state of emergency. Implement martial law. Have a mass government takeover of everything. Start a draft that you can't buy your way out of. Seize the assets of humanity's wealthiest to use to build munitions and supplies. Send a nova bomb to every covenant planet. Make covenant POWs suffer a fate worse than death.

Well, that's what I would do.

  • 12.27.2010 9:39 AM PDT

Fight to the end, and give it your all.

You act like this would be relatively easy. If you attempt to remove the monetary system then there would be total chaos.

The covenant did have a monetary system, read Contact Harvest and the Cole Protocol.

So Communism would be what you want? Sad that so many in America fall prey to the horrific idea of communism... but the UNSC was a socialist government. The UNSC had shipyards on Reach and other planets and had government workers mine the resources and put together the ships and weapons. There was probably very little co-opting like the government does with companies like Boeing. With no money, how are civilians supposed to buy the neccessities? The UNSC telling them how much they were allowed to have?

The answer is no. Because the rebels were still a major thorn in the side of the UNSC during the covenent-human war. If the UNSC would have told people what they could and couldn't have they would risk pushing people into the rebel alliance. Probably not what the UNSC would have wanted to do.

Idea that could have helped the UNSC: Get as many Plasma Pistols as possible then send Marines out in teams of two. One with a Plasma Pistol to take down Elites shields the other with a DMR or BR to head shot them :)
