What do you think happens if Noble six fails to take the package to the Pillar of Autium? Or Master Chief dies while escaping the Pillar of Autium when it falls to Halo or when it explodes? or if Captain Keys dies in the Truth and reconselliation? Or the Arbiter dies in Halo 2 or any other important character dies before they do in the series or die and they live in the true story?

RIP Ginger

Spring 1997 - 6 January 2012

Then a part of the storyline depending on them being in it probably wouldn't have happened that way.

We can play the what if game all day long....What if Ninja Kawala Zombies parachuted out of the sky instead on the Flood breaking out? Or what if President Lincoln didnt get shot in the back of the head? What if grass was blue. What if Halo was called Big Metal Ring? See I could go on all day long.

Yes... I can dodge ducks... and slow moving bullets.

What if the Flood are the good guys after all and are just trying to help out the universe by making them happy while they are infected?

Find The Bomb?!
I'm Looking For The Flag!

What if Bungie died before releasing Halo 3?

Hold your ground, hold your ground! Sons of Gondor, of Rohan, my brothers! I see in your eyes the same fear that would take the heart of me. A day may come when the courage of men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship, but it is not this day. An hour of woes and shattered shields, when the age of men comes crashing down! But it is not this day! This day we fight! By all that you hold dear on this good Earth, I bid you stand, Men of the West!

It's called the butterfly effect. Read about it.

there's no fail. What happened happened. Master chief didn't die, arbiter didn't die. And it's your logic that's is fail. just -blam!- fail. Seriously. Are you an idiot or something? Of course the story would drastically change if an important character dies. There's a reason some characters are considered important to the story (A.K.A main characters, ring a -blam!- bell?), in any story really.

This causes me to question everything I know... How can I ever look at the Halo series the same again knowing that completing a mission actually has measurable consequences in the game world. I was always comforted with the thought that if I failed surely some nameless marine would continue kicking ass in my stead.

But you have disabused me of that childish notion.

Excuse me while I go curl up in a ball.

Don't worry, you're still your mom's favorite Bnet member.

What do you think happens if Noble six fails to take the package to the Pillar of Autumn?Cortana doesn't guide the Autumn to Halo. Halo is never found and humanity is driven to extinction.

Or Master Chief dies while escaping the Pillar of Autium when it falls to Halo or when it explodes? No one ever finds out about the Chief's heroics. The Covenant find Earth and conquer it. With no Chief to kill Regret, the Covenant civil war probably doesn't happen.

or if Captain Keys dies in the Truth and reconselliation?Chief never finds the control center, Halo is fired or the Flood win.

Or the Arbiter dies in Halo 2 or any other important charicter dies before they do in the series or die and they live in the true story?Tartarus activates Delta Halo and everyone dies.

What if the Master Chief got AIDS? What if the Gravemind ate him and all the Flood got AIDS and spread it when they ate something else. See? Interstellar pandemic. Oh and Cortana gave Chief crabs. That's not an "if". It happened. But what if it didn't...?

I heard someone say once (paraphrasing here) "Multiflag on Blood Gulch with your friends is what makes Halo, Halo." I GUARANTEE that more people agree with that sentiment than "Getting a 50 in MLG is what makes Halo, Halo." - Oboewan42

You don't seem to understand what a hypothetical situation is.

I think he does he's just saying what might have happened has no bearing on whether the Halo Storyline fails or not.

(... actually thats not true an easily thought up alternate scenario where -the actions of characters are more deep and reasoned, the plot is more consistent, events of the story carry more weight and the ramifications carry over later into the story,etc- can often ruin stories for many people)
