Subject: Bungie is not Real

I just wish Bungie took advanage of the M rating and made the Halo games more realisic (Like flesh melting after an overcharged plasma bolt, or getting appropriately sliced in half/decapitated by energy sword, or blown apart by a rocket and have gore flying everywhere). You know, cool sick s*** a la Gears of War. The physics system has always had a "floaty" sensation to me--especially while jumping. I guess Spartans are so bada** they can even take on the laws of physics. Oh yeah, and with all the chaos going on, don't you think at least one Marine would've said "F***!" at least once? in short, the Halos are barely a T rated games. I hope they address these issues in future endeavors. I know a lot of you out there feel the same. Many more will say its fine the way it is and leave it alone. I say evolve monkeys.

Message me if you want, I will try to get back as soon as possible.

See you on the forums and in the games.

Just because there is cursing and gore everywhere doesn't make it mature. It just makes it every other over the top M rated game. Halo is different because of this. They don't make dialogue with F-Bombs just to get an M rating, or blow people's heads off to be mature or controversial. They just make a game and take the rating that fits it.

I see your point. But its WAR sweety. Theres a lot more than f-bombs going on; and if there isn't, its the nicest war I've ever seen. Still it's not very fitting for a game that places humanity literally a planet away from extinction.

Melting Flesh has the potential of straining the console's hardware.

Did you just call him sweety????

Hello! Feel free to some Cobbler as this ODST stares at you.

Go make a mod for it yourself.

I heard someone say once (paraphrasing here) "Multiflag on Blood Gulch with your friends is what makes Halo, Halo." I GUARANTEE that more people agree with that sentiment than "Getting a 50 in MLG is what makes Halo, Halo." - Oboewan42

Yes... I can dodge ducks... and slow moving bullets.

The only reason Halo ever got the M rating was because of the Flood and how they were just... Flood'y for lack of words. Why REACH has it I have no idea

Casual Achievement Hunter

I think it is better this way. Games that go over the top with gore and foul language tend to make them worse.

  • 12.28.2010 2:08 AM PDT

Halo doesn't need gore and gibbing to be exceptionally awesome. However it would be interesting to see what it would be like to actually get visual wounds of certain weapons. But NOT body parts and guts laying all over the map, more like only "painted" wounds, like black, scorched spots after a plasma bolt, or very distressed and bumpy armor after an AR spray, and perhaps a black Energy Sword slice with steam and smoke constantly erupting.
If it was a Rocket Launcher wound, maybe just a large black spot with eztremely crumbled armor and LOTS of smoke erupting from the wound.

Life's battles don't always go
To the stronger or faster man.
But sooner or later, the man who wins
Is the man who thinks he can.

I reckon it was because of the assassinations and the blood spray, which can actually get pretty violent.

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

CrimsonVelocity hit the nail on the head there, Halo was only rated Mature because of the Flood.

If you want blood, OP, go play Halo CE and spend 5 minutes shooting a Grunt's corpse. The Autumn is getting a new paint job...

  • 12.28.2010 5:13 AM PDT

Halo has F bombs and the blood erupting from the bodies and onto the walls is violent enough that and snapping grunt necks

  • 12.28.2010 5:15 AM PDT

Sweety lol. He had a panda picture so i assumed it was a girl. Besides, what kind of guy would object to wanton violence?

yo lone zealot. I am loathe to say I haven't been baptized on the battlefield, but unless the Humans, Flood, Covenant and Forerunner were raging an interstellar Cold War, I'm sure there was bound to be a few gruesome deaths. Anyway, I don't necessarily mean human deaths only. Would it make you feel better if it only happened to Covenant infantry?

You do know that a Cold War = no fighting?

Also, saying you "loathe to say" you've not been "baptised on the battlefield" sounds quite sick...

One more thing. There is such thing as being tasteful sure. But Halo would benefit from a darker tone. When Halo CE came out it was a sci-fi powerhouse similar to Aliens and The Thing. But once H2 came out Bungie downgraded the epic story into nothing more than a cheap, made for SYFI tv show crapfest. When you get Nathan Fillion involved it screams B-list. I wonder why Bungie didn't get Eric Nylund to at least get involved in some of the script? Back on topic, more blood and cursing should'nt hurt a franchise like this because it is 100% relevant. Look at Dead Space and Gears of War. I know you guys love these games. And its because the mature content is appropriate. It would be for Halo too. Oh and guess what, these are platinum-selling IP's too.

  • 12.28.2010 5:29 AM PDT

Yes I'm well aware of that ajw. That's my whole point. I was being fecitious. Unless it is a war with no fighting, there is going to be a lot of marines with their guts spilling out crying for their mama.

this; while not mature, it'd be more realistic.

  • 12.28.2010 7:02 AM PDT

somewhere out in the expanse of space beings far greater in both emotion and intellect are looking down on us and pissing themselves laughing.

one thing I have noticed that may be relevent is that a lot of halo players are below the mature age range and bungie will know this so not much swearing and less gore will reasure the players parents unlike say GOW or COD which are strictly aimed at the over 18's (though still you find underage players in these games too) bungie are just covering themselves from the nanny state.

  • 12.28.2010 8:02 AM PDT

Its not a matter of being mature. Its a matter of realism in a fictional setting. Go to a Sierra Leone death camp or an embattled town in Afghanistan. I doubt things will be censored to your liking. There is a happy medium though. Like in Gears of War, there should be an option to turn on or off extreme gore and language.

seems more like it was a step back of violence when it came to reach.

Ha! Halo 2 was much darker than Halo CE, in Halo 2 there was actually a true story that meant something, Halo CE was dark and mysterious but that was it. Halo 2 showed you what you were fighting for, it showed us the Covenant's perspective on things and gave us reason to like/dislike them - instead of just showing them as aliens we know nothing about.

When you get Nathan Fillion involved it screams B-list.

Why does Halo need celebrity voices? Sure, I'd love to see John Cleese voice someone in Halo but we don't need celeb voices to make a good game. Nathan Fillion is a legend.

Relevant, but completely unnecessary. Blood and gore isn't doing anything to help the game, it isn't something we need at all. If you want blood and gore, go play a game with blood and gore in it, Halo isn't one of those games.

Actually, I love Dead Space and Gears of War for the story, atmosphere and gameplay.

Its not a matter of being mature. Its a matter of realism in a fictional setting. Go to a Sierra Leone death camp or an embattled town in Afghanistan. I doubt things will be censored to your liking.

This is a video game. Imagine the contraversy that would come out of making a game based in Sierra Leone, games like MW2 and Mass Effect get massive amounts of contraversy piled onto it because of graphic content, be it sex scenes or killing civillians.

On the subject of Call of Duty, there's almost no blood & gore in that and it's still one of the most popular games out there.
