A18. You still don't get it.

What am I not understanding? All I see is Claim A, Claim B,... etc with no explanation or evidence.

And save from what? You obviously haven't been paying attention to the last 100 years of human history.

Give me an example of a war in history that was fought to satisfy the apparent urge to kill and destroy.

"Concise and devoid of elegance...what I have come to expect from human communication"-Endless Summer

seeing as this is Bungie Universe, I find it funny you want gore and violence and your avatar is an ONI symbol

I just wish Bungie took advanage of the M rating and made the Halo games more realisic (Like flesh melting after an overcharged plasma bolt, or getting appropriately sliced in half/decapitated by energy sword, or blown apart by a rocket and have gore flying everywhere). You know, cool sick s*** a la Gears of War. The physics system has always had a "floaty" sensation to me--especially while jumping. I guess Spartans are so bada** they can even take on the laws of physics. Oh yeah, and with all the chaos going on, don't you think at least one Marine would've said "F***!" at least once? in short, the Halos are barely a T rated games. I hope they address these issues in future endeavors. I know a lot of you out there feel the same. Many more will say its fine the way it is and leave it alone. I say evolve monkeys.

While it would be cool to see "realistic" plasma burns, I could do without the limbs flying everywhere and Fbombs being dropped left and right.

A18...Hitler, Moussolini, Hussein, Bin-Laden, Stalin, Khan, Alex da Great, African Guerillas... I could go on all day. But its simply a means to an end. They kill to get what they want. I'm talking self-defense. As for spartanman, i keep saying that its crazy people think its okay to up violence but they cant say bad words? Its like saying i wanna have sex but with no orgasm. Alright A18. Lets have the backlash.

Well now you are unwittingly agreeing with me. As per what you said on page 1 of this thread:

Sweety lol. He had a panda picture so i assumed it was a girl. Besides, what kind of guy would object to wanton violence?

Those individuals/groups whom you listed used violence as a means to pursue a goal, not for "wanton" violence in itself. But you said that anyway just up there. "Self-Defence" implies a person protecting their freedom or right to exist; not wanton violence but rather has a cause.

We may be Greedy, or Territorial, or Xenophobic but I do not think we are just Destroyers.

"Question. Which Spartan is best?"
"That's a ridiculous question."
"False. Master Chief."
"Well, that's debatable. There are basically two schools of thought."
"Spartans shoot Sangheili. Spartans. Sangheili.....Battle Star Galactica."

why does everything have to be gory i agree its what makes halo different and you never know the be trying to stay original

  • 12.29.2010 11:06 AM PDT

I would love halo to seem like the books but there is a problem...

Spartans are to epic to be controlled by a person... no really (you would have to use your mind!)

Flood would make a halo game into deadspace 2 XD (you would cry in a corner as your marine friends body mutates into the space zombie)

spartans sheilds would be way to strong (Overkill)

Also... Hunters would be a -blam!-...

Halo has F bombs and the blood erupting from the bodies and onto the walls is violent enough that and snapping grunt necks

  • 12.29.2010 12:16 PM PDT

oh but they slaughtered the opposition with (I'm sure) with extreme prejudice and mutilated bodies to send a message (vlad the impaler); and their men raped and pillaged because they had the power to do so. And I'm sure at one point they had fun. You obviously aren't versed in the teachings of one Niccolo di Machievelli. But see that's not what I'm talking about; that's way off topic. Back to violent video games. If a game is about war it should reflect its real life counterpart exactly. I just think Bungie was too lazy to make the particle effects. Oh and I'm sure you've cursed more during Multiplayer than any game could ever dish out.

  • 12.29.2010 2:45 PM PDT

hey metroidman...symbolism. Look closely at the color scheme too. One side is light and the other is dark. So you could relate that to the truth you don't know (black) and the lies that you are fed (white). You're all so black and white. Curse words, viloence, war and death is bad. Hemp clothing, Barne's & Noble, democracy is good. There are dark sides to these things too. but what you really fail to see is that we need the "bad" things too. War, famine, death...these are part of the natural order of things. Without death earth would become overcrowded with people causing more problems. Your problem is that you cant see that far ahead.

Dark Neptune, a young amateur astronomer whose gaming life is no different from other teenagers of his age, though he controls it more strictly then others.

No.

If it was like you said in the OP, I wouldn't get the enjoy it's multiplayer on LAN games with my younger cousins.

So STFU and GTFO.

If anything, go back to your GOW or L4D.

  • 12.29.2010 7:06 PM PDT

With tons of gore and realism (lol), it just wouldn't feel like a Halo game. I have a feeling you are not much of a Halo player from this post, because no Halo player would want to take away the unique feel of Halo.

P.S. I think you might be a serial killer

"You get what you put into it."

When Legendary is too mainstream, you have Heroic. When you're the leader of the church of MLGeezus, have Epic in your username, and can't write 'About Me's' to save your life, what do you get?

This guy. And now, an side note: Most things I post contain lethal doses of sarcasm, so be warned, and try not to take me seriously.

Finally, a message to Bungie trolls everywhere.

Grunt birthday party EASILY makes this a M rated game.

  • 12.30.2010 8:50 AM PDT

This isn't Gears of War. It works for Gears because it's so over-the-top and arguably doesn't take itself very seriously (Cole Train, anyone?).

So, no. Gorefest is unnecessary for Halo, and really, the assassinations are more than enough to satisfy most normal people's lust for gratuitous violence...

Well maybe some gore could be added to when an Elite/grunt dies, but not the Spartans. If Bungie added arms/legs flying off for the Spartans, then I really wouldn't enjoy Halo as much. Because Spartans basically have bones of steel, and its pretty hard to penetrate their armor.

  • 12.30.2010 9:18 AM PDT

i wish there was an option like on gow to give it gore

Just saw this, you assume since I respect this ferocious and mighty beast, that I'm a woman? I'm deeply offended. I would challenge you to a gentleman's duel, but I digress.

Edit: Also throwing in F-Bombs and gore, as stated, is gimmicky and usually replaces decent dialogue or gameplay.

This.

Adding curse words into the dialogue makes it both repetitive and very much like the other games Throwing the occasional word in there like how they do so is fine. Now gore and bits like in MK? No, it would take up more space, make the game feel like a slaughter-fest (which isn't Bungie's intention at all for Halo) and also require a longer, more extensive amount of time on physics, explosions and timing. I can't agree with you OP. This game's purpose is to fight an overwhelmingly powerful enemy. Had it been meant for blood and serious gore, then Bungie would've done it like so.
