I think that in the second game covenant should be able to comandeer human vehicles. Just imagine a squad of elits driving past in a warthog, and then a brute taking a scorpion for a spin with jackals sitting on the sides. Also a flyable human vehicle would be good too. Not necesarily a pelican, any really.

The new OXM shows a pic of an Elite boarding the worthog with MC in it. So, mabey they will be able to use it in Halo 2!

Well the Shadow that was dropped waaaay back in the days when Halo was still an RTS, is being reintroduced, and its basically a purple warthog with a shade gun on the back, so the Elites would have no reason to take the Warthog. And anyway the elite is probably doing what that brute did when he killed all the Marines in the E3 demo vid.

Yeah but surely in multiplayer elites and mc's cant be on each others teams. and in all of the multiplayer shots ive seen its been just mc's fighting each other.

Having MC's and Elites together on a team in MP could be wicked fun. Especially if the elites have specific ablities matched to their character (run faster, see different, jump higher, etc.) It could make Capture the flag games a lot more strategic.

Say an elite has some characteristics that make it naturally better at running the flag, while the Chiefs have some characteristics that make them better suited to guarding the base. It would make team selection really important and make for some interesting match ups.

And don't say that it wouldn't go along with the story or make sense for elites and MCs to be on the same team. If you want to say that then you'd have a tough time explaining why different colored MCs are running around shooting each other in MP...

Surley it will be like last year's E3 demo wher the brute knocks the passengers out the 'hog but doesn't actually enter it to drive.

Good point about the multiplayer though, maybe they will have to balance it by not letting elites into hogs like the Chief cant enter a Wraith in the first game. Quite a hard situation for bungie to work out.

yea they do. in the book the flood an elite uses a pistol to kill marines before they take keyes.

if they were really going to balance out multiplayer games then surely you would be able to be a hunter as well, but a slow respawn time. or maybe bot grunts assigned to each side depending on how well they are doing.

Elites can do just about anything that Master Chief can do.

which is why I think they will probably be the only other playable character in MP. I would have to imagine there will be some difference in how they handle compared to a spartan. If they are basically just another 'skin' that you get to use, just like picking a different color armour, it would fall drastically short of what could be done with the character. I really think that bungie, being the incredible game studio they are, will use the ability to play as this new character to the max.

Which begs the question, what will the differences be between the elites and the spartans. We already know from the first book that the spartans (at least Master Chief) and the elites are basically on the same level when talking about strenght, but I really think there has to be a difference in the area of agility. So, potentially they could jump higher/further. I've only read the first book and don't remember any mention of their speed, but using the first game as a reference there doesn't seem to be too much difference between elites and spartans in that area.

What other areas are there that one group is naturally better at? The two will ultimately even out, but I think that there will end up being one of the two characters that certain people with their individual playing style will grow to appreciate more.
