Background info:
I have had halo for about 5 months and it has worked perfectly. I got a new hard about a week ago and added it to my already existing hard drive. I wanted all my games on my new drive. So I grabbed the microsoft games folder and dragged it from my original drive (c:\) to my new drive (e:\). After a while I eventualy unistalled the game and reinstalled it on the new drive.

The problems:
Now whenever I try and play halo, halo starts up and shows that small halo logo. Then goes to display the large halo logo (the one that takes up your whole screen). And normaly the large logo blinks then continues to display the bungie and microsoft cut scene type things. But about 9 out of 10 times it blinks then exits halo. When it does load about half the time (when your playing halo and suddenly the frame rate goes from 30fps to 5fps and the sound sounds like "sl-a-y-er" where normaly 30 it is "slayer.") Well my sound is like the "sl-a-y-er". It is like this for everything voices, guns/bullets, vehicles, music, and it even effects other sound producing programs like teamspeak. And then when the sound is correct and I go to change my profile the sound suddenly changes from the correct sound to the bad sound. (from "slayer" to "sl-a-y-er") Sometimes when it closes it says "gathering exception data" or someting like that, Whats that mean?

How I have tried to fix it:
I have unistalled and reinstalled halo. I have mesed with every setting in halos settings.

Other stuff:
I meet all of halos requirments. Windows xp, with all the latest video card, sound card, ect drives. Halo trial works perfectly.

I would double check and make sure you uninstall everything Halo on ur pc on both hard drives. Then try and reinstall it on the one you want again and if that doesnt do it then i dont know

Stupid parents let their stupid children play games that are rated M when they should be playing Big Birds Spelling Adventures

Also the AR is actually good in CQB now and no longer a glorified baseball bat.

Have you installed all the patches on the new installation?
I made a cursory check on google and in the 1.07 patch it said that the patch fixed a startup bug related to the intro stuff.

Hmm, I thought I had the 1.07 patch. Let me go download it and install it and see. If that doesnt work, I hate to have to uninstall my game files and then reinstall. I guess I can alwase work to get them back. :D

Hm. I doubt it's your computer specs, since you said it ran fine last time before you installed that new Hard Drive. Now, once you put in that new HD, it probably wasn't the smartest idea in the world to simply drag-and-drop the halo files from one HD to the next. Basically, Halo will keep going back to the old location in the old HD unless you either redirect the target line or uninstall it and during the reinstall, tell the game to look in the new HD instead.

However, that apparently isn't the problem, since you've been able to open up the game and play around in it.

If the game works well during Campaign, then your problems are probably either a bad case of lag or perhaps some spyware/virus eating away at some comptuer resource while you're online. Do the virus scan, check if there are unecessary programs in the background, etc.

If the game doesn't work well and performs poorly even during campaign, then I would reinstall the game. Corrupted file perhaps or improperly installed (unlikely, but possible).
