Subject: M392 and BR-55: same family?

A small detail but something I always wondered, does the Army's M392 belong to the same weapon family as the Marine Corps BR-55? They look very similar. The DMR is missing the carry carry handle and sports an enlarged trigger guard and heavier barrel than the BR-55, but otherwise it looks like a specialist variant of the BR.

Also, I know they are both chambered in different calibers, but alot of modern assault rifles are either produced in multiple calibers as different models (ie. SCAR-L and SCAR-H) or have the capability to swap calibers (ie. Bushmaster ACR), so it's not farfetched to assume that Halo weapons are produced in the same fashion.

It's seems like a stupid quetion, and I always assumed they were in the same weapon family, but I realized that it is has never been stated before officially (as far as I know).

I would assume so.

Some of the greatest characters in Halo are black....
Johnson.
Romeo.
Emile. (You know it's true.)

I agree. Eveything has to start somewhere, right? It wouldn't be hard to believe that Bungie got their idea for the BR from a modern military rifle.

M392 DMR was the predecessor to the BR-55. For some reason the army kept the M392.

the BR-55 is the successor to the DMR. All branches replaced it with the BR-55, except for the Army. That's why it's in the game.

If you're passionate about the thing you're talking about, I'll always lend an ear.

They did carry inspiration in part from the FAMAS of today.
