Why don't we make it optional for each user? You know, full censor if you're not logged in, and three options for when you are signed in: on, half and off. On would be the full censor, off would be no censor and half would only have extreme swear words and such censored.

What do you think?

I vote no. Some people want this, but I just don't get why anyone would.

Everything will be gone long before me. When the first living thing was born, I was here, waiting. When the last living thing dies, my job is finished. I'll put the chairs on the tables, turn out the lights and lock the universe behind me when I leave.

Na, you can pretty much figure out what they blammed out anyway.

I believe this was once an option back in the old hawtness... back then there was much less than 1 million+ members, so it probably didn't put as much of a strain on the servers back then as it probably would now.

I would kill to go back in time and meet Jesus.

Waste of space- Bungie would need to keep multiple versions of each post and pick the one that matches your setting. The way it's set up now, the ideal way, is that "-blam!-" just replaces the offending word in the post.

He's right, bungie doesnt re--blam!- a word every time you read the topic, it filters the post at the time of posting, you can see this because going back to edit it doesnt show the profanity, but rather the -blam!-, storing every message and re-processing it for everyone would put waay too much strain on the server to work practically.

I still fail to see why they filter "bi7ch... Considering they use "bi7ch" in their game.

because Halo 2 is rated mature, and is intended for mature people. This forum is not a halo 2 forum. In fact, only 3 sections have anything to do with halo 2. The forum doesnt have a rating, so is considered accessable by all ages, so profanities are filtered.

Also; don't avoid the -blam!- filter.

Actually, the post could be blammed as it is called from the database.

However, this would defeat the whole point of the caching system.

So while it would be cool it would also kill bungie.net. Literally. And bloodily.

I wonder if achronos would be happy to astound us by giving us some sort of figure about how many posts are called up every minute, and how much CPU time would have to be devoted to re-blamming every post as it was called up :D.
