If you think nobody cares about you, miss some car payments.
Hard work never hurt anyone, but why take the chance.
The first sign of maturity is that the volume knob also turns to the left.

lolwut.
Slip-space travel, awesome AI, colonization of other planets in distant solar systems...pretty advanced if you ask me.
AI?
ALso colonization on distant solar systems wont be advanced in 500 years dude trust me.
Try going to a part of this world, eat the food there, drink the water there, and breath that air. In many parts of the world it won't take long before you get sick. Either from the food, or just local germs.
Now try that on an extra-solar level. Diffrent sun, gravity, and ecosystem to screw with you.
That's one of the many tech advances that are just invisible in many sci fi books and games.
A very good point, HOWEVER, a large part of that is because of sanitation levels. I.e. Mexican water, Indian air. On a new planet neither would exist, however what I think would get you is any diseases on the planet that humanity has never had any exposure to.
Also keep in mind that the planets would be very similar to earth in terms of gravity and temperature, otherwise we wouldnt be able to survive, and that most of the planets in the halo universe were terraformed (I believe)
