Innocent! We by no means are an innocent race buddy.
well, we sure as hell didnt do anything to them!!!

Yeah but we poison the sacred ground we stand on much like rats.

the Human-Covenant War=the Crusades.

We are not the bad guys, but not the good guys.

In Halo, there is no good or bad, only how you use the power given to you.

The Prophet of Truth was blinded by faith. It is even said that Truth wasn't the most devote believer in the Religion in Contact Harvest. It wasn't the faith in his gods, it was the power faith had over its people that he wanted, what drove him mad and what he used to blind the Covenant people into the unwavering destruction of humanity.

I think its supposed to question our destructive abilities and how power and faith can create despair but also create protection and friendship (with the Elites seein the error of their ways).

And if you look at our own destructive history (such as the Third Reich, the Crusades etc.) its true.

wow, someone doesnt like his own species very much, or rats for that matter. were not perfect but at least by that time we stopped polluting planets

1) The Encyclopedia states Earth is polluted.

2) Butchering innocent children and converting them into near emotionless killing machines isn't an evil act?

The UNSC making spartans is very cloak and dagger but it was needed else the Covenant would have wiped out humanity.

I do believe that the covenant are in the wrong i mean the humans didnt really do anything to them.

Yet during the war both sides did terrible things to not only one another but to themselves. War is never clear cut.

I assume you refer to the Spartan programs. While it can be debated wether it was ethically defendable or not, in the end it must've been worth it, considering they saved the whole human race. But war is hell and war has its claims, and there would probably be good people out of many of the Spartans if they never became what they became.

somewhere out in the expanse of space beings far greater in both emotion and intellect are looking down on us and pissing themselves laughing.

"Find where the liar hides, so that I may place my boot between his gums!" - Rtas 'Vadum

Regardless of what Humanity does on Earth or any of their worlds is of little consequence with respect to the Covenant, as is the way it should be. The Covenant have no right to interfere with someone else's affairs. Morals are relative, so the Covenant do not have the right to cram their beliefs and morals down someone else's throat because they hold just as much weight and truth as anyone else's.

Humanity's worlds are Humanity's worlds, not the Covenant's; therefore they have no say. These planets are not holy grounds; the Forerunners are not holy or gods and their technology is not holy; The Covenant's religion is a farce. They are quite comfortably the ones in the wrong. As the observer, we are able to discern that as we can see both sides of the story.

As for the Spartan program. The Spartans were created to stop an inevitable civil war that would have cost the lives of millions. What is more morally reprehensible: Sitting idly by with the means to stop a bloodbath, but letting it proceed anyway resulting in the deaths of millions, or taking steps to ensure that this does not happen by sacrificing 75. I mean what difference is it on the battlefield? You send soldiers to fight for a cause, and some are killed. How is the Spartan program any different in the end? They both require sacrifice for a cause.

Your argument to make the Covenant seem like good guys over the UNSC is invalid based on that. They are worse because their leadership are fooling them into believing in an afterlife that does not exist, and are making them give thier lives for nothing, or do you really believe that encouraging suicide bombing with grunts is a good thing? The UNSC are fighting to exist, whilst the Covenant are advocating tyranny.

Comparing their respective leaderships, the Covenant are wrong and the UNSC is doing what is expected. From the average person's view neither is wrong because they both believe that what they are doing is right. However, overall, the Covenant are wrong. As the observer we know that.
