Now that 343 industries will make new Halo games, people would want to play something new.

I'm personally a little tired of the human-covenant war why not go post halo 3 or during the forerunner era.

The best genre for a forerunner game would be a RPG.

Why?Because the forerunner era is full of mysterious things, alot of good story potential(see cryptum).
Imagine playing as a forerunner like bornstellar searching through the galaxy for precursor artifacts ,interacting with other alien cultures that we never saw, fighting rebel idiots like humans, and the flood afterwards.

That would be a break from the FPS genre before 343 makes a Halo 4.But please no halo games anymore on xbox 360.

Who would like to see this?

So this time we can play as the arrogant pricks that -blam!- us up even more then the Covenant did? Sure, why the hell not, might be pretty interesting. (this is not sarcasm)

I think it would distract from the mystery that surrounds them. Plus it could only really be the Forerunner-Flood fighting that happened unless they want to develop other conflicts that happened.

I lol'd at the absurd miscommunication that occurs whenever dibbs post something. Perhaps his brain is so highly evolved that he can no longer clearly communicate with lesser life forms, even among his own species.

I personally think that the reason why they are writing about the Forerunner now is to set the groundwork for a game they will be making.

As for the type of game it should be, I'm on the fence. For the Forerunner I would like to see the game focus on the story and preferably cut out multiplayer altogether. That won't happen if the game is an FPS or TPS. I think it would be odd to play a Halo game in a Mass Effect-esque setting, but I don't think it would be bad.

They'd need to make the game identifiable with the audience. Practically all science fiction has humanity featured in it because it gives us a viewpoint we can relate with. If I were to create a Halo game set in that time period, it would be the Forerunner-human war, or shortly before. That way we'd have recognisable humans but in a mysterious setting.

Don't worry, you're still your mom's favorite Bnet member.

Nah. The Forerunner are shrouded in mystery and the unknown, and that's how it should stay.

Have you heard of Halo: Cryptum by any chance?

Halo Cryptum already did that (lack of mystery) the new mysterious race is the Precursors.

And seond, their are plenty of conflicts, such as the Human-Forerunner war, and such.

Plus thousands of other species we could deal with (The Covenant=/=all the galaxy's races; wasn't Soma a new alien? And what about the creatures who Cortana saw die in Human Weakness?)

It'd probably be fun. It'd also be interesting to explore the galaxy and see more recognizable races such as the Unggoy and Sangheili living in primitive staus, but fully interacting with the Forerunners the way we do in Cryptum.

Yes! But only if it is future Covenant members involved. Can't be only Flood. It would be amazing to dominate a bunch of medieval-ish Sangheili!

I'm not sure how it would work, but the idea is too awesome to say no to.

Yes I have, and I don't plan on reading it.

I was reading these posts... and I thought that maybe it would be cool (most of you probably wont think so) if the game was set in the forerunner vs. flood war, and you were the forerunners (or flood) and you would fight the other side the same way as you did in Halo Wars. I just saw a huge potential in the fact of creating a great game story from both the flood and forerunner's points of view while also having the ability to be creative with designing new vehicles and such for both sides. Well... that's what I think (in my most humble opinion) would probably work the best...

"You get what you put into it."

When Legendary is too mainstream, you have Heroic. When you're the leader of the church of MLGeezus, have Epic in your username, and can't write 'About Me's' to save your life, what do you get?

This guy. And now, an side note: Most things I post contain lethal doses of sarcasm, so be warned, and try not to take me seriously.

Finally, a message to Bungie trolls everywhere.

A Forerunner-Flood War would be EPIC, then add an option to be either side.

I think it would be cool if it was about the Forerunners fight against the Flood. Or you assume the role of 343. Lol.

I'm curious because I don't really remember but the forerunners did have space battles with the Flood right? It wasn't all based on ground/air combat was it?

make it sorta mystery-ish, because I don't want something that completely shows off what the forerunners were, and something a little darker and scary I guess, considering the main antagonist would most likely be the flood.

  • 12.30.2010 9:12 PM PDT

I think the Forerunner- Human war would be pretty cool. Especially if we play as humans before the Forerunners devoled us.

"Find The Bomb?!

What The Heck Is Assualt!?"

I don't know enough of the Forerunners to tell, I would rather them be explored in different mediums as they don't seem to be the outright warriors we'd see in an FPS.

Well, 343 will probably make them that...

Then a game...
