Being serious/realistic, how would you invent FTL(faster than light) travel? By that I mean how would your invention work. I.e. Using microscopic blackholes to tear a hole in space, or shooting out a black hole to bend space and decrease distance. Anything you want, just curious to see what your ideas out there are. The more in-depth the better...impress us with your knowledge of physics.

Matter is to Energy, as Energy is to Time, thus convert Matter to Energy then Energy to Time, and revert in a different location where Time is constant. Thus location changes but Matter and Energy remain constant.

All of this assumes Energy is in relation to time!

Someone could also post what the Mass Effect drive cores do, I'm sure Bioware has a very detailed description of how those work somewhere.

E=MC^2 + 1?

"You get what you put into it."

When Legendary is too mainstream, you have Heroic. When you're the leader of the church of MLGeezus, have Epic in your username, and can't write 'About Me's' to save your life, what do you get?

This guy. And now, an side note: Most things I post contain lethal doses of sarcasm, so be warned, and try not to take me seriously.

Finally, a message to Bungie trolls everywhere.

Build an epic sized partical collider (Like that one in Europe but 10x larger), but make it a one-way track. Put it in space, (No friction, or other stuff to slow you down) and then fling yourself (In a partical shaped pod thing) and fly to someplace. Theres no slow-down brakes.

Lol, better hope you don't miss and, say, fly into a star... That'd put a slight damper on your day

Element 0 changes the mass of nearby matter if you run a current through it. Greater current, greater change.
Supposedly, they reduce their ship mass to .1g, 0g, or less than 0g.

Message me if you want, I will try to get back as soon as possible.

See you on the forums and in the games.

Slipspace is fast because of it's slipperiness, correct?

Well, I would have a system of rail coated in butter and oil and then using an even larger system of slingshots and pulleys, launch the craft into space. By the time it hits the end of the launch rail, the accumulation of butter and oils should be great enough to enter Slipspace effortlessly.

In an effort to be "serious" I will add an extra, less likely theory. This one would involve first learning on how to control different states of matter and to learn on moving between fabrics of space and time. After figuring these out, I would manufacture a device that would allow the distinction between the two fabrics, or dimensions, to be erased temporarily within a controlled setting. Then the user could transport through space, but in a different time, as we understand it. That's my vague and more than likely flawed theory.

Splipspace is just an hypothesis, IMO Mass effect's travel system seems more possible, it's basically a giant slingshot.

We believe that the universe is unbounded: this is not the same as infinite: the 2-D surface of a sphere, wrapped around a 3rd dimension, has a finite size, but has no end. If you start off in a given direction on the surface of a sphere, you could return to your start point without having to turn around -- you simply go all the way around. But wouldn't that mean the universe has an escape velocity like the earth?

Using Black Holes to enter Intradimensional Physical Quant...nevermind, ill explain my theory in 2016

The failure here is that FTL stands for Faster Than Light, not Same as Light.

Halo is one of the most important part of my life.

Im not sure how to explain it on inglish.

But i think you must learn how to make mass travel through time and space. Sort of teletransportation.
You must star with little amount of mass like a key, if the time-space-travel works, so the engine its bigger as the mass it is. More mass = engine bigger.

Bad inglish i now, but i do my best.

By those implications, Infinite Mass = SOLight.

As we sit down and type, we are flowing through time as it goes forwards, we also go through space as the earth rotates around the sun. The unfortunate thing is that with E=mc^2, no matter how miniscule the mass is, it will always be infinitely large by the time it hits Light-speed.

But we are not trying to go as fast as light. We are trying to be faster.
If you read the books, you must now that they actually travel through time and space at the same time.
While you are in the Slipspace "time" flows normally for you, but in real life it passed days or even weeks.

Don't play halo alone, it sucks. Halo is all about playing with your friends no competitive bull -blam!-.
Halo=communist(friend and team based all players being equal)
COD=capitalist(You're on your own for the most part you have a better or worse chance depending on what you have)

take a rod that is longer than a light year long.... and push it

Yes, Im trying to explain that if the object reaches an infinite mass at lightspeed, how do you expect to go faster since infinite is well, Infinite.

If you read the books, Slipspace is not normal, Minkowski Space, Slipspace is parallel to normal space, and the laws of light speed change to allow extensive travel at superluminal speeds, while keeping "your" time perception, whereas in reality, weeks and months go by. Once the starship exits slipspace into normal space again, you automatically snap back to a speed below light.

By using their FTL drive which uses brute force in the form of black-hole manipulation to rip a hole in space-time. Something I'm currently exploring.

@B2(don't wanna edit the nest)
Your totally right, except for the time perceptions. From what I can tell, Time flows "normally" between "real space" and "slipspace." Hence the needs for cryo-pods.
