The shields around the head are weaker

Ahhh....
Good point.

I have no idea, probably just to conform to FPS laws.

I believe the shielding around them is equal everywhere, but once the shielding is down the strength of the armor comes into play, and its weaker on the head. Dont quote me on that one though.

How come it takes less hits in the head to kill them, than anywhere else?
It doesn't.

If something smashes/penetrates/melts/vaporizes/eviscerates the Human brain.

You know what happens.

Message me if you want, I will try to get back as soon as possible.

See you on the forums and in the games.

Shields pop at same amount of hits, the armor alone however fails earlier in the head region. I think, may be wrong.

Now sit down and pull your pants back up.

Sniper round. One shot to the head, shield or no shield.

The strongest Rivals are also the strongest allies.

reading fail...

the sniper takes out shields, but one has less "health" at the head. there dies in one hit.

Head shots deal more damage to shields than body shots?

Simple FPS logic.

That's not relevant. I didn't think headshots did any more damage to shields than bodyshots did, in the Halo series?

"It's not who I am underneath, but what I do that defines me."

If you recall, in one of the books they turned down some of the shielding around their feet and hands so they could still grab onto thing and not slide around everywhere. I'd imagine they did the same for the head as well, since it would probably be difficult to move your head around if the shielding was up a lot.

  • 12.30.2010 7:54 PM PDT

Here to end the borrowed time you've all been living on.

The shield is equal everywhere on the armour. Once the shields fail, then the hits, it they are strong enough, go then go through the armour. It doesn't kill a spartan if he gets hit in the leg or chest but it does if he gets hit in the head, obviously.

  • 12.30.2010 7:55 PM PDT

Here's how it works.

4 shots from a DMR will pop shields no matter where they land, face, foot whatever. The shields are disabled and irrelevant to damage calculation anymore.

The Spartan can survive a few more body shots, but a shot to the head will scramble his brains.

2 body shots with Sniper=Kill
1 head shot with Sniper=Kill

Wow, I really need to read the books. This sounds like the most logical answer.

A fairly simple answer, here:

A single sniper shot strips their shield and exerts (some) damage onto the location of impact. When it's exerted on the head, the damage is enough to crush the head and kill.

That's not damage to the shield, it's residual damage.

Snipers will pop the shields no matter where they land. When the bullet passes through the shields and hit part of the body, the Spartan survives because of his armor. If it lands in his head, well..

I'd love to be a 10 year old and tell my mom I'm going on an adventure out into the world catching Pokemon, with her full support. Never mind the fact that there are rapists, criminals, and murders out there, or the fact that I may get killed by a Pokemon.

Luckily I have Pikachu.

Thats only for gameplay purposes, like for example... the Master Chief can flip a 50 ton tank but he is helpess when it comes to the SMG's recoil.

Subject: There's one thing about the Halo series I never understood.

This isn't related to any specific game.

Now I just thought of this today.

The Spartans have equal shielding on their entire armor. How come it takes less hits in the head to kill them, than anywhere else?

I know that it's obvious FPS logic, yet this is one thing that Bungie has never clarified on, or been explained in Halo canon.

Thoughts?

Its biology.

Must just be one of those deranged priority armour things. E.g. More armour in the body means more protection on ground fights in the front lines.
