Also the AR is actually good in CQB now and no longer a glorified baseball bat.

How much RAM is it sapping off of the system RAM?
The video chip is not supported anyways. You MAY have a chance of running it with maximum problems if the chip is sapping at least 32MB off of the system RAM.

They really sugar up those descriptions, don't they? Shame on them...

There's a download floating around to improve the performance of integrated graphics - perhaps a few google searches can turn something up. I can tell you that you'll be running everything on low, which isn't that pretty.

Nevermind, I will use this: 256MB PCI-Express x16 ATI RADEON™ X550 Pro

Will that suffice?

Hmm, it won't be great, but it will be playable. Don't expect a ton from it.

A 6600GT would be the way to go. It's not much more expensive but it's worlds apart in performance.

I am looking at the Alienware Bot. It's either that, the previous, or this:
128MB PCI-Express x16 ATI RADEON™ X700 Pro

4 pipelines is not good for Halo. In my experience pipelines mean alot to halo. But, if you run it on a low enough resolution this shouldnt matter.

I am pretty computer illiterate, Davis, but I need a new graphics card, and you have prescribed this 6600 gt. Now, I searched this on Newegg, here, and it looks like there all sorts of these 6600 gt's. Does this mean that different companies sell them, is it talking about various different variations on it, or does it simply denote the color?

It is different companies selling them.
Some have additional features such as a couple having Video In-Video Out.
Before buying one make sure of what type of slot you have. Do you have an AGP slot or a PCI Express slot or a PCI slot?
To make it easier, what brand and model PC do you have? I can look it up and check.

Thanks AJ! I got a Dell Dimension 2400, about 1 and 1/2 years old, so it should probly have the PCl Express slot.

Oh. This is an easy one for me. I just looked up the same PC a few days ago for a guy on here.
You have a PCI slot only(Not PCI-Express), so you have limited upgrading options.
Here is the best video card that is available right now that is a PCI card.
Before anyone says that the 5700LE is better, look at the specs on both. The 5500 is better.

Wow! It's only 94 bucks! Will it still work moderately well even though it's a PCl card?

Yes. It should run Halo pretty good. You will probably need to turn down the settings to at least medium and have the resolution at 800x600 at the most.
If those setting cause problems then try setting the settings to low or setting it to 640x480.

* Pr: ĭnʹtərnĕts: "I hear there's rumors on the uh (pause), Internets...

If you can, get a new motherboard that has a socket 478 CPU type, and a PCI-E slot.

Then just use that.

Because that videocard, the 5700 LE, blows big-time.

EDIT: Didn't he say he had a Dell 2400?

Those use proprietary Intel Mobos, that have a Sckt 478 CPU.

A 939 is better, and it still has pcie slots.

I'm not worried about having the biggest and best, as long as it works without too much lag in big battles. And we're talking about the 5500 not the 5700 according to AJ

Yes. I know that the 5700LE is horrible. That's why I said don't get it, and that's why I said to get the 5500.
