'i doubt it will have the option to choose the weather ' -same here

although if it changed randomly
it'd be like fighting in the middle of England

i'd like acid rain
i hope earth gets threatened and you have to fight with the covies against a meteor shower on a space craft, and then land again and kill them all

i think it would also be cool if the hunters teamed up with us cos they were being mistreated by the other races, theyre probably like big the cat under all that armor.

Don't limit yourself to weather, there is also day, twilight/dawn, and night time elements.

I would love to switch my multi-player map from daylight to a night with heavy rain complete with occasional flashes of lighting and the booming of thunder.

The good thing is that it's possible, the Xbox can do it, even Live. Weather effects are independent of bandwidth (perhaps with the exclusion of lightning if you're being picky since it's a random light source) and maps can be light mapped for different times of the day meaning you'd have multiple versions of the same map on the DVD.

Who knows how plasma reacts with acid rain? Fog might be cool as all you could see would be streaks of plasma flashing everywhere and no-one could snipe.

Plasma with acid rain!!!!! Master chiefs suit would wear away overtime and it would be lame if you where just walking along and got hit by a lightning bolt! THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH A PISTOL OR A SNIPER

Acid rain isn't normally stong enough to burn through titanium armour.
Most acid rain just pollutes the soil and if the rain is constant it can over time wear away rock.

okay ive changed my mind
acis rain could only effect you on yellow health, as thats basically down to your underwear.
it wouldnt effect you indoors ofcourse

hell just imagine the lag
fog+lightning+plasma+railbeams(???)+wind+rain+clouds
...

If lag wasn't an issue for having weather options, I'd love to have weather control in mp.

I agree if lag wasn't an issue than weather & lighting effects would totally change your straties
per the weather you were facing. It could change a big open sniper map into a close combat map that would the ultimate test to see if you are a good player that has the ability to adapt.

you should do a poll to see what results you get?!!

My favorite would be walking around in the dark interior of a building and seeing a spartan come to the door... silhouetted in the moonlight outside, the rain splattering on his armour. The lightning flashes in the sky above and the spartans shadow snaps into being along the wall-- and then you snipe him point blank since you can see him and he can't see you :)

Lemme see here:

LIGHTING
Dawn
Morning (Bright, but not as harsh)
Afternoon (Bright and harsh)
Evening
Dusk

WEATHER
Normal
Foggy
Rainy
Cloudy

Yeah... That'd be pretty neat.

Don't forget snow...or maybe even sleet or hail. Wind would also be neat to see...would play havoc with the banshees though :).

What about dusk clouds for the more dirt, and sand based levels. Although this would be the equivalent to fog. You could still snipe in fog. I pity much target by the red indicator anyways. I would create a new bread of sniper, Fog Snipers the real ghosts of the battle field. :)

Well, considering that weather effects existed in Halo 1, and are destined to be improved upon in Halo 2 wherein you fought against multiple opponents simultaneously we know that it is possible. We'd fought the flood en masse with our marines at the end of 343 Guilty Spark.

What matters is if they have time to implement it before the release. Cross your fingers me buckos and pray.

Im sorry but think about it on mp!
You want to kill the other team not just walk around looking at the clouds!!!!!! They do have quite good weather options on Halo @ the moment any way well thats what i think i havent seen any other game with better graphics................

Lightnings were present in the E3 '03 demo, so we can always hope...
But i don't really care about cool weather effects in MP, it would make the game even more perfect but I'll already be happy without...

  • 05.08.2004 7:30 AM PDT

I don't think they will have a weather option, but it would be cool.
