Halo is one of the most important part of my life.

What are they differences? How do they function? And what was the upgrades for Spartans II or III?

"Find The Bomb?!
Find The Bomb?!
I'm Looking For The Flag!
What The Heck Is Assualt!?"

I don't know mark IV, but mark VI has biogel or whatever they use within the armor that automatically heals the user when shields are recharged.

And the ability to magically change the foregrip design game to game.

Since it seems that the account didn't transfer, that's my new account everyone.

Without going into detail, mark 4 was a non shielded version of their armor, mark 5 had shields as well as increased speed reflexes and strength. Mark 6 had an upgraded shield function, different wiring for ease of AI interaction (the reason he could 'touch' something and cortana would download herself onto it). I think communication functions were increased, and there was probably a slight increase in strength reflexes and all that. Plus the different placement of armor probably offered more mobility and protection.

EDIT: there was also that shield upgrade which recharged faster I believe, and that biofoam.

I believe Mark VI also significantly increased user strength, which is (the canonical reason) why in Halo 2 and 3 MC can hijack vehicles and dual wield weapons.

Can't we all just get along?

Mark V also had the ability t house an AI, which was not present in the Mark IV

MkIV was the first set of MJOLNIR issued to SPARTANS.

MkI-III was full-body exoskeletons (similar to the Cyclops from Halo Wars), and they had to "rethink [battle armour] from the ground up for MJOLNIR".

MkIV was very basic, and was nothing more than armour plate, with force-multiplying circuits. It allowed SPARTANS to jump 3 metres straight up in the air, 'punch and shatter' concrete targets and 'bury [throwing knives] up to their hilts' in targets.
MkV was first issued in 2551 to Noble Team and select other SPARTANS, and was the first to be issued with Energy Shields. Issued to the SPARTAN-IIs as a unit on August 27, 2552.
MkVI was issued to Master Chief John-117, aboard Cairo Station.
Other surviving SPARTANS Linda-058, Fred-104 and Will-043 were issued with it around the same time and fought with it at Earth and Onyx.

IV & V are essentially the same thing. One just has shields . VI is the result of many years of Mjolnir projects. Perfection.
Don't forget that the 'V had "hundreds of minor technical improvements" over the 'IV, with two 'major' improvements being the Shield and AI compatibility.

About me: I am a vicious wolf of a man.

But really am sweet at heart. =)

Mark IV:
No energy shielding and less efficient strength gel layer

Mark V: Added Energy shields, a port added so a Smart AI can fit inside suit systems. More advanced and efficient gel layer increasing reaction time

Mark VI: More efficient energy shields, automatic internal biofoam injectors meaning medkits are no longer needed. Added zoom feature to visor.
