halo 2 still the best game in the series. long live halo 2.

Dam, I miss the old days playing halo 2 with my old brothers in arms. Thank you my old friends for giving me this account, I shall continue our legacy.

Till the day they decide to remake Halo 2 to work on the current xbox live network, we will just have to continue playing Halo 2 through the vista version or through xbox connect/xlink kai. Till then play on those, you can easily find matches and still have a good time playing with your friends online.

On page 164 of my halo 2 game history, I have achieved something great!

My hopes and wishes is to be able to play the most socially active game within its community again with my friends and the want of halo 2 to be brought back ( if possible ) onto the LIVE servers and to bring enough attention to the topic so that any bungie member or employee can shed some light on it. Read through and try to get anyone else who also feels that halo 2 should be brought back to live to support this cause. Maybe to prove to bungie how awesome and wanted this game is, they can track how many players wear the halo 2 symbol. WEAR THE HALO 2 NAMEPLATE FOR SUPPORT!

Halo 2 was a game crafted with a few hidden secrets, great bugs that not even the all knowing Bungie had come acrossed. The few glitches and flaws that made this game such a masterpiece created an extensive halo community that actually went out to buy microphones so that they can spend hours talking about amazing glitches like the superbounce, BXR, Double-shot, getting outside the map's boundary and exploring the raw materials that make our play space, (with some others that haven't been mentioned) while at the same time finding new glitches. Which in turn built bonds of peace, friendship, and brotherhood into an unlikely community of people who want to kill each other for fun.

The BXR and Double-Shot brought on a community known as M.L.G. (due to its requirement of skill to accomplish the task) allowing them to become a large entity because of the wide popularity of halo 2 and its competitive nature.

Clans and Clanmatches were extremely successful and fulfilling ways of building one great community of gamers, bringing them together to fight under one name, creating organization and order. Massive and Major groups, such as KSI, XGC, UEG, KOG, DOG, LCU, etc. have retained the ability to manage thousands of gamers with somewhat stability. They have spawned from this game, an incredible thing that a single game had ended up forging into existence.

In-Game "Glitches," they were fun, interesting, and popular enough to receive its own gametype so that people can explore these mysterious cracks in the ground, this may have been the greatest way to get many people together. Glitches would include Super-Bounces, Buterfly Jumping, the Rocket Launcher Glitch, Getting outside of the map. Super-Bounces could be achieved easily by crouching underneath a sloped object then running and jumping onto certain cracks in the ground to cause an instant launch directly vertical of wear you landed to get to extremely difficult and/or impossible to reach places. Butteryfly jumping or just butterflying consists of 2 people, 1 standing on the head of the other, the top player must constantly jumping while the other underneath him consistently presses "B" and "X" (Default button layout) at the same time in a corner to reach very high places for example The Castle of Headlong, the highest point in headlong only reachable by butterying along with the combination of a banshee or the preferable super-bounce. The Rocket launcher glitch requires an energy sword, a rocket launcher, and an enemy to lock onto, the button combo consists of ( unknowing the order in which it should be pressed ) "R," "B," "X," then "Y" causing the user to be launched, like a rocket, to the enemy being aimed at, it is a very inconsistent method of getting to high places but is very necessary at the same time. Now the indiana jones instinct comes into play when exploring the far reaches of the other side of the boundary of maps. This requiring a special type of technique that must be practiced to figure out, most likely you wont learn it on the first try. Along with each map requiring a technique each one is unique, varying drastically in time consumption and difficulty as well as the number of people to accomplish the task of successfully crossing the map boundary. Not all maps can be gotten out of with only one person. Some maps dont have the ability available to get outside of its boundary.

I'm sorry but Halo 3 ( in my opinion ) went down the path of being noob friendly by slowing down the gameplay, solely with the reduction in the rate of fire with the Battle Rifle and removal of the BXR and Double-Shot ( a vital role in competition and motive for practice with other people, creating another reason for custom games ) because that is the primary weapon for the ever so popular Team BR's and ALL MLG playlists. Not to say that Halo 3 wasn't competitive but it lacked the ability to sustain the high amounts of community engagement within itself, basically getting people together.

Halo: Reach is right with, more so further down the noob friendly path involving the aspect of engagement, yes they created a great sense of timing and skill in Halo: Reach with the reticule bloom but also has a slight slowness to it. No glitches = less community involvement, Halo: Reach has a great amount of community involvement with Bungie ( which was a great doing and commitment on Bungie's part ) but hardly any community involvement with each other, like getting teammates together to work as one, no practice rounds, no community videos to be posted on youtube like red vs blue, no Free For All MLG games ( Rare, unless you know the right people), watching film clips together with friends, etc. Don't get me wrong Halo: Reach has a unlimited amount of potential due to the ability for one person to seamlessly create gametypes, maps, films, and share them. On top of the extensive variety of play mode to fiddle around with. Halo: Reach just needs more time.

Please participate in the poll to support the possible resurrection of halo 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I only played H2 for a bit, and I kinda see what other people think about it. It was the best halo game so far, H3 wasnt that bad in my option. I acually love Halo 3. its basicly the only game I play still today. Basiclly cus Halo Reach was the biggest upset ever. Hreach is almost just like ODST...-blam!-!!! But I totally agree on bring back H2. Hopefully bungie wont half ass it like when they make reach. Halo 4 on Xbox 720!!!FTW

I agree, Halo 2 is the genres best. It was quite simple, and yet deep. If we where to have a remade i woulden't have them change a single gameplay thing, but redone textures and increased framerate would be nice.

The other games have a good MP too, they are Halo after all, but for every Halo game they add unnessecary complexty like more weapons, grenade types, equipment, armor abbilities, reticle bloom it's not what Halo used to be about :(
And look at how casual Reach have become, there is not a single map that have the qualities of say Lockout, Midship or Warlock in Reach. Halo 3's maps wasen't that good either, but better than Reach's.

This is why i hope Bungie, or 343 Studios will ressurect Halo 2 with online play, achievments, and online coop.

HALO all DAY and NIGHT. Thanks Bungie for the best series ever! UNSC tattoo on the leg, custom made spartan outfit for Reach launch and enough Halo memorabilia to fill a game store. Can one say addiction?

Terrible argument. The video only shows that Halo 2 has aim assist, which is very fitting for a console shooter.
It dosen't make Halo 2 a terrible game, quite the opposite actually.
Remember what happened to PDZ? The fans was demanding no auto aim or aim assist, and they got it. People realized later that it was a big mistake.

Console shooters = crap. I stopped reading right there.

If you want a game that takes REAL skill to play, try CS or Unreal or Battlefield. Not halo 2.

Why does everyone hate Halo 2? Maybe its because its the worst game ever next to mario.

Jacob how about you stop posting your little comments on here, nobody cares what you have to say because all your doing is talking trash. Obviously you have some interest in Halo 2 if you were browsing Halo 2 forums on BUNGIE . NET if you like Battlefield so much why are you even in Bungie forums ? Go to your little battlefield forums to talk crap about Halo where other people wont care what you have to say, and stop spamming this thread with your bull.

Halo 2 for Life!

I agree, although Halo 2 was the standard that all video games were measured always for me. Halo 3 was not only a disgrace but ruined halo as we know it. It's an abomination of failures hopefully to never be seen again. I feel ultra strongly about my displeasure for a game that lacked everything that was good and emphasised everything that was bad. Am I exaggerating no. It is and always will be the biggest waste of time I ever experienced in my life. I could rant like this for hour's lol.

I hardly feel that halo 2 is noobified, now I do believe that halo 3 is somewhat noobified due to the fact that i got to a lvl. 50 5-6 weeks after release, which is during the time of when all the "good" players play, also trying to get 50's, which makes it harder to get a 50, compared to halo 2 when the highest rank i got to legit was a lvl. 42, no mods no stand-bying no bridging, actually bridging so that we dont meet up with groups of modders or stand-byers that also have a bridger, every match was against actual teams that were not cheating. Besides that, everyone was on a level playing field, its not like, "oh, he's got aim assist and i cant do anything cuz i dont have aim assist," thats a bunch of bull, now the players who can pull a few moves that take skill or good timing are the ones who will be in higher rank. okay 80% of the skill is handed to you and it is up to you find ways to add to this skill, in the form of good movement, grenade tossing, vehicle driving, weapon spawn, knowledge, its basically a strategy game infused within a FPS. In a strategy game its not what group of soldiers is better, but how you use them that will allow you to win. If your mind can only comprehend shooting alone and no other thoughts, like spawn times, player trends and being able to predict what a player will do based on what you have, where you are and what the score is at, then you should drop your controller say to your self, "i cant handle this," and sell your xbox and games because this isn't for you.

iknow that you can play halo2 with XBConnect, but we pay enough for xbox live, and we do get some good stuff like some free maps a few months after release, exclusive privileges, along with better servers than ps3, which is a fact. for example we get the call of duty map pack earlier than ps3 and wii. so my point is that since we pay so much then lets get the good server quality and friends list and clans with halo 2 on 360 instead of using a 3rd party with a not as good server quality and without a friends, list messaging or gamertags.
