My hopes and wishes is to be able to play the most socially active game within its community again with my friends and the want of halo 2 to be brought back ( if possible ) onto the LIVE servers and to bring enough attention to the topic so that any bungie member or employee can shed some light on it. Read through and try to get anyone else who also feels that halo 2 should be brought back to live to support this cause. Maybe to prove to bungie how awesome and wanted this game is, they can track how many players wear the halo 2 symbol. WEAR THE HALO 2 NAMEPLATE FOR SUPPORT!
Halo 2 was a game crafted with a few hidden secrets, great bugs that not even the all knowing Bungie had come acrossed. The few glitches and flaws that made this game such a masterpiece created an extensive halo community that actually went out to buy microphones so that they can spend hours talking about amazing glitches like the superbounce, BXR, Double-shot, getting outside the map's boundary and exploring the raw materials that make our play space, (with some others that haven't been mentioned) while at the same time finding new glitches. Which in turn built bonds of peace, friendship, and brotherhood into an unlikely community of people who want to kill each other for fun.
The BXR and Double-Shot brought on a community known as M.L.G. (due to its requirement of skill to accomplish the task) allowing them to become a large entity because of the wide popularity of halo 2 and its competitive nature.
Clans and Clanmatches were extremely successful and fulfilling ways of building one great community of gamers, bringing them together to fight under one name, creating organization and order. Massive and Major groups, such as KSI, XGC, UEG, KOG, DOG, LCU, etc. have retained the ability to manage thousands of gamers with somewhat stability. They have spawned from this game, an incredible thing that a single game had ended up forging into existence.
In-Game "Glitches," they were fun, interesting, and popular enough to receive its own gametype so that people can explore these mysterious cracks in the ground, this may have been the greatest way to get many people together. Glitches would include Super-Bounces, Buterfly Jumping, the Rocket Launcher Glitch, Getting outside of the map. Super-Bounces could be achieved easily by crouching underneath a sloped object then running and jumping onto certain cracks in the ground to cause an instant launch directly vertical of wear you landed to get to extremely difficult and/or impossible to reach places. Butteryfly jumping or just butterflying consists of 2 people, 1 standing on the head of the other, the top player must constantly jumping while the other underneath him consistently presses "B" and "X" (Default button layout) at the same time in a corner to reach very high places for example The Castle of Headlong, the highest point in headlong only reachable by butterying along with the combination of a banshee or the preferable super-bounce. The Rocket launcher glitch requires an energy sword, a rocket launcher, and an enemy to lock onto, the button combo consists of ( unknowing the order in which it should be pressed ) "R," "B," "X," then "Y" causing the user to be launched, like a rocket, to the enemy being aimed at, it is a very inconsistent method of getting to high places but is very necessary at the same time. Now the indiana jones instinct comes into play when exploring the far reaches of the other side of the boundary of maps. This requiring a special type of technique that must be practiced to figure out, most likely you wont learn it on the first try. Along with each map requiring a technique each one is unique, varying drastically in time consumption and difficulty as well as the number of people to accomplish the task of successfully crossing the map boundary. Not all maps can be gotten out of with only one person. Some maps dont have the ability available to get outside of its boundary.
I'm sorry but Halo 3 ( in my opinion ) went down the path of being noob friendly by slowing down the gameplay, solely with the reduction in the rate of fire with the Battle Rifle and removal of the BXR and Double-Shot ( a vital role in competition and motive for practice with other people, creating another reason for custom games ) because that is the primary weapon for the ever so popular Team BR's and ALL MLG playlists. Not to say that Halo 3 wasn't competitive but it lacked the ability to sustain the high amounts of community engagement within itself, basically getting people together.
Halo: Reach is right with, more so further down the noob friendly path involving the aspect of engagement, yes they created a great sense of timing and skill in Halo: Reach with the reticule bloom but also has a slight slowness to it. No glitches = less community involvement, Halo: Reach has a great amount of community involvement with Bungie ( which was a great doing and commitment on Bungie's part ) but hardly any community involvement with each other, like getting teammates together to work as one, no practice rounds, no community videos to be posted on youtube like red vs blue, no Free For All MLG games ( Rare, unless you know the right people), watching film clips together with friends, etc. Don't get me wrong Halo: Reach has a unlimited amount of potential due to the ability for one person to seamlessly create gametypes, maps, films, and share them. On top of the extensive variety of play mode to fiddle around with. Halo: Reach just needs more time.
Please participate in the poll to support the possible resurrection of halo 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
