Maybe it's been too long since I last read the book but yesterday I noticed something and couldn't figure it out.

In First Strike, it is discovered that the Covenant know the location of the Sol system and are getting together a huge force to take it out. Luckily, our friendly neighborhood Spartans are around to blow most of said force to smithereens. But when Regret later arrives at Earth, he arrives with the relatively puny group of ships. Cortana later explains that he didn't expect to find humanity there. What's up?

CoD is a good game, even if the Halo series are better in some aspects. Anyone who insults either is just bad in that game. Grow up.

IIRC, Regret was operating on his own with his personal escorts, and the fleet at the Unyielding Hierophant was under Truth's command. They didn't contact each other during the time, so Regret stumbled upon Earth with no knowledge of its inhabitants.

Edit: forget what I said, Regret knew there were humans on Earth, but apparently not that it would be their homeworld. He went there with a tiny fleet because he thought it would have been easy to activate the portal to the Ark.

That's what I figured. Seems odd that he wouldn't hear about such big news but I guess email isn't terribly effective when you're halfway across the galaxy. Thanks!

On hiding dead bodies:

Inside another dead body. It's the last place they'll look
A corpse within a corpse.
CORPSEPTION.
Win.

Truth found out about the human homeworld, and assembled a fleet of 500 Brute-captained ships around Unyielding Heirophant, and was about to strike when the operation was destroyed by the SPARTANS.
Truth kept this information secret, since he was using the Brutes and not the Elites - if it was found out, there would have been uproar.

Regret was thus not privy as to the nature of Earth, only that there was a Forerunner structure there.
Which is why he turned up with only 15 ships, and also Mining Scarabs, not War Scarabs.
