I was in 5th grade. I popped in the Halo CE disc into the massive, clunky first generation Microsoft Xbox, and wrapped my small hands around the controller that was almost too big for me. Little did I know what I was getting into.
10+ years later, I still look up to my childhood hero, Master Chief, while everyone talks about He Man and Spongebob haha

It's topics like these that make me want to tear up; going back to the good old days, and knowing that community members like Grumpy1 exist. You have a grandson, and seeing as how you constantly still think outside the box, play Halo 2 with a burning passion and continue to bring new thoughts, idea and wisdom to the community, I can only imagine how fruitfully you have lived your life so far and the lives you affected within this forum and out of it.
Despite sounding cheesy...I dunno, this is just kinda inspiring and puts life in perspective.
This is what defines the Halo community.
Get well soon, and give us young whippersnappers someone to look up to haha.
Just my two cents. I've been on the Halo train, playing CE ever since 5th grade, and after seeing that these forums and a large portion of the gaming community decay into hardcore MLG wannabe kids, trolls, or people who just complain about everything imaginable in the game, it's nice to have a change of pace.
