I heard someone say once (paraphrasing here) "Multiflag on Blood Gulch with your friends is what makes Halo, Halo." I GUARANTEE that more people agree with that sentiment than "Getting a 50 in MLG is what makes Halo, Halo." - Oboewan42

For me, it started with the first mention of ODSTs. Being able to drop from space to a planets surface to engage the enemy was one of my greatest wishes. Higher player count, whether 16v16 or up to 64v64 would have been great, but not just with basic gametypes. It had to be multi-objective and require teamwork on a higher level. In years prior I was thinking more Battlefield 2142, but with far more detail.

For instance, Section 8 utilized a drop spawn mechanic, which only rejuvenated the concept of a Halo game applying it. And, what more than the Battlefront 3 leaked footage which showed the potential of surface-to-space transition.Oh the possibilities!....lost.

So, it's been a great decade of Halo as well as gaming in general. In the past 10 years have you, as a Halo fan, ever stopped and developed your own concepts for a Halo game based on the lore or mechanics seen in other games? What were they and was this a one time thing or pop up periodically?

I never had any ideas, with each new sequel (or in the case of Reach, prequel) new things were added obviously, but they weren't things I wished for, but rather things I didn't even know I wanted (not as in doubt, but as in "omg this is awesome!")

After playing Mass Effect 2, I've had a great desire for a game with that style of gameplay, although perhaps slightly more tactical, with more emphasis on directing squad movement. A game about a team of Spartan IIIs going on various missions across the galaxy. Hell, it could be about Gray Team, an existing 3 man squad who we don't know much about.

The point is, I really want a 3rd person shooter that's squad based without being too overly complicated. Something along the lines of Star Wars: Republic Commando, but in 3rd person.

I could see something like Republic Commando too. Spartans have about the same amount of personality as the clones did.
